Career
J.M. DeMatteis began writing for DC Comics on their horror comics in the late 1970s. He moved to Marvel Comics in 1980, where he took over The Defenders, a team super-hero book. DeMatteis later distinguished himself at Marvel with long runs on Captain America and The Spectacular Spider-Man, including the fan-favorite story arc Kraven's Last Hunt.
DeMatteis' contributions as an independent comics creator include The Compleat Moonshadow and Blood: A Tale. He is also the author of a young adult series of books, Abadazad.
