Ivan Castro
Ivan Castro is a blind U.S. Army Special Forces soldier who was severely wounded by a mortar shell during combat in Youssifiyah, Iraq, in 2006. Although the explosion put him into a coma for six weeks, tore apart the left side of his face, and shattered his arm and shoulder, Castro recovered and has since returned to duty.

Castro's Current Duties
Castro now serves in the Special Operations Command of the Special Forces, and is stationed with the 7th Special Forces Group in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.1
