Islamic Jihad Union

Since first making their presence known in 2004, the Islamic Jihad Union (IJU) has taken responsibility for at least two bombing attacks in Uzbekistan and is suspected in several more terrorist attacks abroad.

Terrorist Activities

1. April 2004: The (IJU) claimed responsibility for three days of bombings in Uzbekistan which killed at least 47 people the previous month ¹
2. July 2004: In their first attacks against foreign targets in Uzbekistan, the IJU bombed the U.S. and Israeli embassies in Tashkent ¹
3. November 2006: Three suspected IJU members were arrested in Pakistan for placing rockets in several government buildings ¹
4. August 2007: Suspected members of the IJU were arrested on terrorist charges in Germany
