History
Internet Explorer 8 has been in development since August 2007. The latest, being version Beta 1 which was released on March 5, 2008.
New Features
- Activities: Commands that allow a user to launch an online service from any web page. For example a user could create a blog post based on content they are currently viewing.
- WebSlices: The ability to snip parts of a web page and subscribe to it's updates. Similar to Active Desktop, a feature that was introduced as part of Internet Explorer 4 in 1997.
- Safety Filter: An update to the existing phishing filter of Internet Explorer. Prevents web sites that are known to contain malware from loading.
