A Brief History
The Pacer organization was started by a group of six investors, who planned to establish a team in the American Basketball Association. Between the years of 1967-1974 the team played in the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum. They then occupied Market Square Arena for the next 25-years. The team currently plays at the Conseco Fieldhouse. The period of sustained success, in the NBA, occurred in the years between 1995-2004. The Pacers went on to win four division in the following years: 1995, 1999, 2000, 2004. In 2000 the played the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals, however were not able to win that contest. One of the most notable players to have played for the organization, was Reggie Miller. Miller was the eleventh pick in the first round of the 1987 NBA Draft. He holds the team record for most points scored, and was with the franchise for 18 years, ending his career in 2005.
