FINAL
- Take nothing away from Arkansas—they got a monster effort from Sonny Weems, who turned in 31 points, and also got a double-double from Darian Townes and some key shots made from Patrick Beverley as well. But the story is the ineffective play of Big Ten Freshman of the Year Eric Gordon, who didn't shoot well from the floor or the line for Indiana, and whose face had defeat written all over it almost before the game began. To be sure, the Razorbacks had a lot to do with his poor performance in a technical sense, but the lack of mental toughness from the very young Gordon is what folks in Bloomington will be lamenting in the morning.
- None of the Hoosiers figured on having such a tough year, and Gordon and his teammates dealt with it as well as a group of college kids could be expected to...but it's definitely a disappointment when a team capable of so much can't execute and live up to their obvious potential. After the questions about his play tonight are asked and answered, Gordon will be rewarded with even more questions from anxious IU fans who want to know if he'll return for a sophomore season—and a shot at redemption.
SECOND HALF
- Dean: Full disclosure -- I went to Indiana and know a lot more about the Hoosiers' team.
- 0:00: Final scoring gap is 14
- 0:44: Gordon tips one in...What will he be thinking about his future after tonight's poor showing?
- 0:53: Ellis fouls, IND delaying the inevitable, here...
- 1:36: Ellis steps up a little late for IND with a 3
- 1:59: TIMEOUT: It's not all about IND not living up to their potential, it's also about ARK coming out tonight with something to prove after that loss to 14th-seeded Georgia in the Big Twelve Tourney championship. The Hogs truly stepped it up and played incredibly well against the two best players (arguably) in the Big Ten.
- 2:39: Weems gets another jumper to go down, he's over 30 for the game
- 2:45: TIMEOUT: Bassett just got a three, he's tried to hang in there but those negative thoughts still seem to be getting in the minds of the Hoosiers.
- 3:24: Beverley is a close second to Weems for Player of the Game for ARK, he sinks a jumper
- 3:45: TIMEOUT: Jordan Crawford of IND said it all when he fouled ARK's Thomas and Thomas still made the basket...before the ball went through the hoop Crawford hung his head. IND is starting to look like they're giving up with Gordon still not getting it done and White on the bench. White is also having cramps, apparently.
- 4:20: Goaltending against ARK
- 4:43: Weems is killing the Hoosiers with his hot hand, he hits another 3
- 5:34: IND's Bassett is trying to pick up the slack, he hits another three
- 5:54: Gordon sinks only one foul shot. As Nance tells us, he's got almost as many turnovers as points.
- 6:09: Beverley almost lost it and when IND thought they had it he recovered and fed Weems for a dunk. That's the way it's been going for IND tonight.
- 7:29: IND's Bassett gets lucky as a three rolls around and goes in
- 7:40: Weems continues to make it happen for ARK, he gets another bucket
- 7:44: TIMEOUT: Someone for IND needs a run if this is going to be a game in the stretch. Gordon could explode at any moment, but his massive slam dunk minutes ago didn't seem to kickstart anything.
- 8:04: White goes to the basket aggressively and gets fouled. Screw it, why not at this point, D.J.?
- 8:28: IND's Stemler fouls, although it looked like it might have been called on White as he tried to block it
- 9:06: TIMEOUT: Weems just got a three to put the lead back up to 9 for the Hogs. White can't guard as aggressively as he'd like because of 3 fouls and ARK is taking advantage of it.
- 10:05: Gordon finally gets one, a vicious dunk
- 10:38: Suddenly back up to 6 after Townes hits a jumper
- 11:20: Hill slams it home for ARK
- 11:38: TIMEOUT: White is digging deep for the Hoosiers, he doesn't look like he wants this to be the last college game of his career.
- 12:25: Stemler makes a three to bring it to within a bucket
- 13:09: Weems comes right back and answers
- 13:12: White scores again for IND
- 14:06: Townes scores on White
- 14:34: TIMEOUT: Now White has gotten his third foul after what looked like a pretty clean block. That's big for IND.
- 15:00: TIMEOUT: Armon Basset has caught fire for IND when they desperately needed someone to do so. He's hit two threes in a row to get the Hoosiers within three.
- 15:45: Gordon gets an impressive block. Maybe that'll give him some confidence?
- 16:10: Beverley gets a rattler for ARK, it's a 3 for the Hogs
- 16:45: IND's Thomas fouls again, he sits with his fourth
- 17:20: Weems is the man for ARK tonight, he gets another bucket
- 17:50: White again, he's got all of IND's 6 pts this half
- 18:07: Beverley makes one of two at the line for ARK after Thomas for IND gets his 3rd foul
- 18:32: White gets his second basket in a row to close the gap to 5 for IND
- Dean: Second half gets underway, Nance and Packer confirm that the story of the game is Eric Gordon's icy shooting for IND.
HALFTIME
- After a strong start in which Indiana looked motivated to prove they could live up to their potential in this game, the ineffectiveness of Eric Gordon and strong play from Arkansas' Sonny Weems (13 pts) and Darian Townes (10 pts) appeared to wear on them by the end of the half. The Razorbacks are not known for their great foul shooting, but are 10 for 10 from the line so far in this one. They looked confident and the Hoosiers were looking for answers as the teams headed to their locker rooms.
FIRST HALF
- Dean: Full disclosure -- I went to Indiana and know a lot more about the Hoosiers' team
- 0:00: IND played for the last shot and decided to give it to White to power inside and try a dunk, but he misses it.
- 1:36: Thomas for IND wills one in
- 2:23: TIMEOUT: Nance mentioned that Gordon's lack of confidence and low scoring output so far is the biggest reason IND is down. White has 10 but isn't dominating enough to offset Gordon's slow start.
- 2:40: Townes with a hook shot, back to a 10-pt lead
- 3:12: TIMEOUT: ARK just went up by 10 with a 3 from Weems.
- 4:50: White makes something happen at a critical point for IND, tips a miss up and in
- 6:00: ARK's Townes slams it with authority, largest lead for either team at 6
- 6:50: Weems gets an O board and puts it back up and in for another 4-point lead
- 7:25: Welsh finally misses for ARK, and then hurts his ankle. He came down on Bassett's sneaker and twisted his ankle. But he gets up with assistance.
- 7:57: TIMEOUT: ARK is shooting just under 30% from the field and still has the 4-point lead. Being 10 for 10 from the line helps.
- 8:13: TIMEOUT: IND's White just got his second foul and has to sit. He's got just 4 points, 3 boards so far. ARK's regaining their composure and getting the hot hand.
- 8:50: Welsh getting hot for ARK, he gets another three
- 9:58: Gordon gets a steal is immediately fouled
- 10:14: Stemler answers with his own three
- 10:32: Welsh gets a solid three to put the Hogs in the lead
- 10:52: Washington commits a foul for ARK after an air ball. Packer mentions that the shot selection for ARK isn't great so far
- 11:34: TIMEOUT: IND is showing some muscle out there. 300-pound DeAndre Thomas has looked formidable barreling down the floor.
- 12:15: Charge on Gordon of IND, Packer comments that he doesn't think that was a foul at all
- 13:24: Weems gets one for ARK finally
- 13:45: White with a basket, and ARK's missed 7 in a row
- 14:20: Gordon gets his first.
- 15:13: No-look pass from Bassett to White, easy bucket for IND
- 15:29: TIMEOUT -- IND looks like they have life in this one so far. CBS is showing footage of IU Coach Dakich having fun with some fans at open practice, he held some foul shot challenges between himself and some kids
- 15:40: IND's Stemler sinks a three, it's back and forth so far
- 16:36: Hill blocks a shot from IND's frosh phenom Gordon. Hill is one of the best-ever shot blockers for ARK
- 17:20: Thomas for IND battles under the basket and gets 2
- 17:28: Another foul on the Hogs, that's three early
- 17:34: Already two threes and a couple buckets for each team

- The Hoosiers enter the tournament having endured a tumultuous season due to the firing of former head coach Kelvin Sampson in February. They were knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament by Minnesota on a buzzer beating shot. The Razorbacks reached the finals of the storm-affected SEC Tournament, but were upset in the title game by Georgia, who'd previously finished last in the SEC East.

Indiana Arkansas Live Coverage Pre-Game Analysis
- With their roster including the Big Ten Player of the Year, senior D.J. White, and the league's Freshman of the Year, Eric Gordon, the Hoosiers would figure to have the edge against the Hogs—at least on paper. But with the whole world calling their collective will to win into question, it's going to take more than pure talent to best an Arkansas team still smarting from its own upset league tourney loss. The old cliche, "Who wants it more?" is in full effect here. The Hoosiers will either show up determined to prove their detractors wrong and it'll be a game, or they'll lack the motivation and, likely, have to start looking forward to their next season with their next new high-profile coach.
