Illinois Election Results
Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States with the help of Illinois's 21 electoral votes. Illinois has voted Democratic in the last four presidential elections and 2008 polls showed Obama with a 25 point lead going into Election Day.1 Dick Durbin, the incumbent Senator, won his re-election campaign against challenger Steve Sauerberg.
