Ice on Mars
After examining photographs taken by the Phoenix Lander, scientists reported that they found what appeared to be ice on mars.

Photographic Evidence
The first photos the Phoenix Lander took depicted an area of shiny white matter . There was speculation over what the substance may have been. Over the next four days, more images were taken. In the latter photos, the substance had disappeared, leading the scientists to conclude the matter evaporated, much like frozen water would when it melts.
