Baseball Career
After helping to lead Canyon del Oro High School to Arizona State Championships in 1997 and 2000, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Kinsler in the 29th round of the 2000 amateur draft. Kinsler declined a contract, however, and went on to play baseball at Central Arizona College. The Diamondbacks drafted him in the 26th round in 2001, but Kinsler chose to continue his collegiate career by transferring to Arizona State University and then to the University of Missouri. After his college career, the Rangers selected Kinsler in the 17th round of the 2003 amateur draft.1
