Guide Note

iTunes is a digital media player application, compatible with Microsoft Windows and Mac Operating Systems and has a built-in online music store aptly named the iTunes Store. The program is also works to manage the audio and video content on Apple's popular iPod digital media players, iPhone, or computer. For fans of DRM-Free music, iTunes Plus was recently launched.

Features and capabilities

iTunes may be used as a CD player, can be used to rip CDs, view podcasts, purchase music and videos online, download music to an iPod or other MP3 player, listen to internet radio, listen to shared music, and more.

Debut

iTunes made its debut at the 2001 Macworld Expo in San Francisco. The initial software was created by Bill Kincaid and Jeff Robin and was purchased by Apple in 2000.
