IRS Investigates Obama's Church

Guide Note: The IRS is investigating the United Church of Christ, of which candidate Barack Obama is a member, for potentially violating restrictions on political activity by a non-profit organization. Obama gave a speech to a national meeting of the church last year after he had announced his entry into the presidential race. Church officials say that they cleared the June 2007 speech with lawyers beforehand, and that Obama was speaking as a member of the church, not a politician.
