IPod Touch
The iPod Touch was added to the Apple iPod series in September of 2007.1 With features similar to the iPhone, the iPod Touch is a MP3 player with WiFi capabilities and touch screen technology.2
At the September 9, 2008, Apple Let's Rock event, Steve Jobs announced a new version of the iPod Touch that has a slimmer design more like the iPhone, in stainless steel with integrated volume controls on the side of the device. It will have a built in speaker and Genius playlist creation. 3

iPod Touch Features
The iPod Touch is compatible with the iTunes WiFi Store.2 The 3.5-inch wide-screen, multi-touch display features a 480 x 320 pixel resolution. The battery provides 36 hours of audio playback or six hours of video playback.5 The iPhone jailbreak works to unlock the iPod Touch, allowing for the use of third party applications.6
On August 4, 2008, Apple released a firmware update for the iPod Touch and the iPhone.7
Cultural Status
British iPod Touch fan Nick Haley created a homemade YouTube advertisement for the device to the tune of CSS's "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex," which Apple eventually had him help remake at higher quality. The ad was eventually broadcast during the World Series.8
