IPhone Games
Downloadable games and other applications are now available for the iPhone through the iPhone App Store. This addition came with the release of the iPhone's 2.0 software, which launched on July 10, 2008, in conjunction with the 3G iPhone.1 Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that one third of the initial 500 apps released for the iPhone were games.2

Getting Started
While the iPhone's 2.0 software comes preinstalled on the 3G model, owners of older models can still upgrade to the new software for free and then use the App Store.3 Additionally, users can browse the App Store through iTunes 7.7 or higher.
iPhone games currently range in price from free to $9.99, and can be downloaded directly from the iPhone's main App Store menu.4 Notable titles include Super Monkey Ball, Ms. Pac-Man and Bomberman Touch.
For controls, the games utilize the iPhone's built-in technologies, such as the accelerometer and the multi-touch screen.5
