Hurricane Hanna
The National Hurricane Center reported that Tropical Storm Hanna formed southeast of Florida on August 28, 2008.1
On September 1, 2008, Hanna was declared a hurricane. It hit the Bahamas and the islands of Turks and Caicos later the same day.2 Rainfall and mudslides from Hanna killed over 130 people on the island of Haiti. The storm reached the east coast of the United States on September 6, 2008. Hanna will result in four to six inches of rainfall from North Carolina to New York; isolated tornadoes and flooding remain a concern.3 4
