Humoresque

Humoresque is the story of a wealthy, neurotic, woman, played by Joan Crawford, who falls in love with a violinist, played by John Garfield. She becomes his patroness but, while he returns her love, he refuses to place her above his music. The film, released in 1946, was a remake of a 1920 silent film. Both versions were based on the 1919 novel by Fannie Hurst. Humoresque is though to be an influential film for its use of music, cinematography, and dynamic story. It was parodied by Second City TV in 1981 and served as inspiration for the music video for Madonna's "The Power of Goodbye."
