Divorce Filing
Linda Bollea is reportedly seeking a share of the family's multimillion-dollar Florida real-esate properties, alimony, and child support for their son, Nick (17).
The couple has been married for 24 years, and also has an adult daughter, Brooke. The family is featured on the VH-1 reality show, Hogan Knows Best.
Backstory
The filing came before reports, beginning in February 2008, that Mr. Bollea, 55, was dating his daughter's friend Christiane Plante, and/or alleged makeup artist Jennifer McDaniel.
It also followed a notorious August 2007 auto accident in which, police claim, Nick Bollea and two friends, John Graziano and Daniel Jacobs, were racing in two cars belonging to the Bollea family.
Bollea was allegedly intoxicated and driving with Graziano in a yellow Toyota Supra, while Jacobs drove a silver Dodge Viper. When the Supra struck a palm tree, Graziano suffered serious head injuries, from which he is not expected fully to recover.
On March 25, 2008, the Graziano family filed a civil suit claiming that Terry Bollea was negligent in his son's accident. Lawyers for the Graziano family were quoted as estimating the damages to be "in the millions."
Implications
Attorney Kimberley Kohn, who represents the Grazianos, alleges that the divorce is a strategic move to protect the family's assets against the civil suit. Most observers credit Mr. Bollea's alleged affairs amidst a family crisis as the most likely cause.
