Howard Fineman is an author and Chief Political Correspondent, Senior Editor, and Deputy Washington Bureau Chief at Newsweek. He is also an analyst for NBC News. Fineman appeared often on Imus in the Morning.

Howard Fineman has an A.B. from Colgate University, a M.S. in journalism from Columbia University, and J.D. from the University of Louisville.

Fineman started his journalism career at The Louisville Courier-Journal where he covered the topics of environment, the coal industry and state politics. From there he went on to join their Washington Bureau in 1978. He then moved on to Newsweek in 1980. In 1984, he was named their chief political correspondent. He became the deputy Washington bureau chief in 1993, and then the senior editor in 1995.
