    • Hi,

I have completed my first how-to nearly 2 months ago. I have submitted my tax form and relevant documents but still was not paid. I can't complete any articles further until I am sure that I will be paid.

Could you please help, I haven't received any further feedback for the 'How-to make Indian curry' article and I assume it was accepted since I completed all sections, including links. As I said, it seems futile to complete the other two articles (Burn a dvd and Green Thai curry) until I have some incentive.

    • Do we need to start a Nits & Bugs Group in the Greenhouse? ;-) Do nit & bug reports have to be submitted as Recommended Links and then get Accepted or Rejected? ;-) Nothing major to report - just some annoying issues using Mahalo Share that arrived with Firefox 3.

      Thanks.

        • Hi Tom,

You can post them here or use the Report a Problem on the upper right hand side of every page.

          Mahalo,

    • The multisubmit toolbar is awesome. The only issue I have is that my Magnolia credentials are not recognized when submitted via the tool. They do work fine when I submit them to the site directly.

      Thoughts?

    • I can't seem to find any way to report problems with the beta product, or provide feedback. If this mechanism is the means, then it might be useful to make that clear.

Has anyone found a means of communicating with the the team?

      Thanks.

      Bob.

    • It would be nice if you could add the following:

      * The "More..." link that goes to Special:Allfriends should be rel="me"
      * The "Return to XXXXXX's profile" on Special:Allfriends should reciprocate with a rel="me"

Otherwise things like the Google Social Graph API only pick up the contacts directly on the profile page.

    • I wasn't able to register my Mahalo account with my Greenhouse credentials. So I created a new account (probably before Social). I noticed how the Guides are noted on their Social page. Is there a way to add a badge or links to our pages in PTG situations? Or is it possible to create a Social account using PTG credentials? Thanks!

    • Hi!
I just started to use mahalo, and I still it see like a sort of delicious based search engine with verified links and summary/description pages, which is cool.

And it seems to be possible to automatically post links to del.icio.us, that I'm currently using and don't want to leave yet.
      Perfect.

But still have a few concerns:

Is there any bookmarklet or discret button I can use?
I just hate toolbars, I just can't afford to loose that space on my 15" screen...

Is there any way to import an opml file, not speaking of importing my del.icio.us links or browser bookmarks?

Is there some automatic tags system implemented, by tagging the link with the search keywords, or whatever?
To test, as I wont install the toolbar, I tried to add a site:
I search for streetboard, then on "Know a better link for "streetboard"?"...
      But nothing happened.

I had some problem to register as well, by the way:
when on the login page, I tried to click on new account, but nothing. the url was growing larger and large, but I was still on the login page, not on the sign up one.
After clicking on help, or FAQ, don't remember exactly, I tried again, and succeed.

The only way to test that would be to sign out, erase all cookies + cache + identificated sessions, restart the browser and try again...
I don't feel like doing it right now, but I'll keep you updated if I'm able to reproduce the bug!
I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.11... (on ubuntu hardy, but I don't think it matters)

Thanks in advance for your time and answers!

        • AAAAH!
Can someone rename my message to something understandable?

          Tekrotzen,
          ashamed.

        • We have a multi-submit tool in beta testing right now; it's a button for your browser so you aren't required to install a toolbar.

It will be available soon, and address your tagging issues as well!

            • Great news, thanks!
And regarding the "importion" o_O, I guess it's not such an issue for the user, as he can still use del.icio.us to access his bookmarks...
But it's more an issue for the mahalo index creation:
I know I won't go through all my links and enter them manually, anyway.

Oh, and FYI, I removed my firefox profile folder and tested again:
even playing with the login link when on the login page to create the longest url ever, no issue.
Same for the link recommendation: no problem at all!

I'd say it was caused by a faulty plugin, or something like that...
But anyway, everything's working perfectly, now! ;)

              Thanks a lot!

    • Hi! I've added profiles for Flickr, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and YouTube. In the "Other Profiles" section, the links there all seem to work fine, but when I look at the tabs, only Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr show up. MySpace and YouTube are AWOL. I'm not sure what I'm missing here. Is it expecting a username or a URL for these? Does the tab only show up if certain conditions are met? Thanks!

        • We initially started with just a Twitter tab then added Flickr, Facebook and LinkedIn. We are working towards adding tabs for other services in future updates.

    • Hi -

I have a few questions about Mahalo use that I hope you can help me better understand:

      1. At one point I had several Tags listed in my personal account page. They have all disappeared. Can you explain a) How/Why they disappeared and b) how I can recover them?

      2. I'm watching the links of several other Mahalo contributors. I'd like to become a Fan -- but can't seem to initiate that action. I feel selfish because several folks have become fans of my recommended links and I'd like to return the favor. But perhaps I've misunderstood the difference between a "Friend" and a "Fan". If someone becomes my Fan and I accept them as a Friend, is the Friendship reciprocated on their personal account? (That is, do they now have me as a Friend?)

      3. Two links that I've recommended were identified as "Bad Links". I have no idea which links they are or why. I'd like this feeback (even via e-mail) so I can be sure to avoid recommending that kind of content again.

      4. I'd like to change my username to be a little more user friendly. "mpaciello" is a little impersonal. I'd like to change it to "mikepaciello". Can this be done without losing all my other data?

      Thanks,

      Mike Paciello (mpaciello)

        • Hi Mike,

I'm sorry you're having some problems with the system. To answer your questions:

          1) The tags should not disappear, unless they were connected with links we blocked. We'll doublecheck to make sure tags are working.

          2) You can become a Fan by clicking "Add as Friend" under someone's profile picture.

If someone is a Fan of yours, and you add them as a friend, then the friendship is reciprocated on their account. Likewise, if you're a fan of someone and they add you as a friend, then they are listed as a friend of yours, not as a Fan.

          3) We just started sending out emails when we block links, but if something was blocked before we had this system then you would not receive an email. Nevertheless, we'll check on your links and get back to you on what happened.

          4) In account settings you can update your real name, but the way our system is set up your username cannot be changed. You can of course create a new account, but that would mean losing your data.

          I hope this helps.

          Mahalo,
          Sara

    • I don't see the "Invite Friends" under my profile picture ... where did it go?

        • We're checking into it. In the meantime, you should be able to invite friends via this page: http://www.mahalo.com/Special:InviteFriends
