    • I went to Lowes yesterday and they have some really neat Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs. The biggest problem with them in the past was the color. There are many types and colors; Daylight, Full spectrum, Soft white, etc.

I bought one that was labeled "Daylight". I got it and put it in my room and it is just like having the window open on a sunny day. It has a better color than the traditional fluorescent light tubes.

They now have ones that can be used on dimmers and on celing fans.

    • To save on my gas bill, I always shut off the heat of my oven a few minutes before whatever I'm cooking is done. The residual heat keeps cooking my food, but the extra gas isn't burning. It helps cool down my apartment faster in summer, too. You can use this tip for stove top cooking, too, depending on the situation.
