Meet the Lemon Drop Martini, the perfect combination of sweet, sour and knock you off your feet potency. The drink is simple to make. You'll essentially be making a martini with the addition of lemon juice and sugar. So, what are you waiting for? Get shaking!
What You'll Need
- This recipe makes 1 Lemon Drop Martini. The prep time is about five minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
- 1/2 oz. Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 1 tsp. Superfine sugar
- 1 oz. Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Superfine sugar for dipping the rim of the glass
- Lemon peel, twisted
- A few candy lemon drops or candied lemon slices (optional)1
Equipment
- Martini glass
- Cocktail shaker
- 2 small plates
Making a Lemon Drop Martini
Prepare the Glass
- Fill one small plate with a tablespoon of water.
- Fill another small plate with a tablespoon of sugar.
- You can add some finely chopped lemon zest to the sugar plate for extra zing.2
- Dip the rim of the glass in the water, then in the sugar.
- TIP: Alternatively, you can just run a lemon wedge around the rim of the glass and then dip into the sugar.2
Mixing the Martini
- Place cocktail glasses in the freezer for ten minutes.3
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add vodka, triple sec or cointreau, superfine sugar and lemon juice to shaker. Shake well.
- Pour into a martini glass that has been rimmed with superfine sugar. 4
- Garnish with the twisted lemon peel.
- Alternatively, you can use a few sprigs of mint for the garnish.5
- Serve immediately.
