Guide Note: In the young adult House of Night Series author P.C. Cast teams up with her daughter Kristin to explore a world where mankind and vampyres must live and work side by side.
In the first book, Marked, things for Zoey Redbird just got a lot harder, as if being sixteen isn't complicated enough. She's been marked by a Vampyre hunter, and must leave her regular life behind. Her family is disgusted, all except for her grandmother, who is ecstatic to learn that her granddaughter has bonded with Nyx, the Night Goddess. Moving into the Vampyre School, the House of Night is even more difficult, as Zoey quickly discovers she's not like all the other fledglings. She's special, hand-chosen by Nyx to serve some special purpose, and the most popular girl at the House of Night can't stand the competition. To make things worse, it feels impossible to sever ties with her old life after she accidentally imprints with her almost-ex-boyfriend Heath.
Zoey returns in Betrayed, now head of the Dark Daughters, a school society that she plans to reform so its members have something to be proud of. Nyx has marked her even further, now adding a series of tattoos around her face, indicating to anyone who sees her that she is beyond ordinary fledgling. When something awful happens to her group of friends at the House of Night, Zoey feels like she can't go on, but that awful something turns into the most horrid thing she could even dream. It's up to her to get to the bottom of a dark secret brewing in the House of Night. Of course, all of this wouldn't be so bad, but she's still imprinted with Heath, she's got feelings for fellow fledgling, Erik Night, and part-time professor and Vampyre Poet-Laureate Loren Blake has been writing her romantic poems.
As Chosen opens up, Zoey is harboring several dark secrets, things she longs desperately to share with her best friend. Unfortunately, the only person she can trust is the last fledgling on earth she wants to. Things with Heath are still complicated, and Erik is starting to feel left out. Loren has made his intentions clear, and she is now juggling three very complicated relationships. To top it all off, she's got to try and make right a horrible wrong, and she can't turn to any of her friends for help. One by one, friends become enemies, and enemies turn out to be friends in this shocking installment to the House of Night Series.
Book four, Untamed is due for release in the Fall of 2008, and will be followed by a fifth book titled Hunted.
