Marshland Buffers Gone
Marshland acts as a buffer between hurricanes and towns. A storm will start to lose strength as it reaches marshland, and will be weaker once it arrives to populated areas. Unfortunately, environmental erosion has destroyed 900 square miles of coastline in the Houma area.1
