Hopkins vs Calzaghe

Guide Note: On April 19, 2008, undisputed super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe won a split decision in 12 rounds against Bernard Hopkins to winnThe Ring light heavyweight championship. The fight saw only one knockdown, as Hopkins caught Calzaghe in the first round. Calzaghe got up quickly and took a standing eight count in the corner. Despite this, Calzaghe got stronger as the fight went on and landed a significant number of punches. There were two low blows that were not penalized, much to the dismay of Hopkins. Calzaghe is next expected to take on Roy Jones Jr., while the future for Hopkins may or may not include a re-match with Calzaghe in the near future.
