Herbert Alex Simpson
Philadelphia resident Herbert Alex Simpson was arrested on August 14, 2008, and charged with mailing threatening communications to New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin. Simpson confessed to setting up an extortion attempt against Coughlin while being interviewed by the FBI.

Letters to Coughlin
Simpson allegedly wrote that he would "expose" a sexual tryst between the coach and two women, identified only as "ND" and "AB," to Coughlin's wife and family. It is believed that Simpson hoped to frame "ND" and "AB," with whom he worked, for the blackmail attempt.2
