Introduction
- This is a detailed guide for Ubisoft's PlayStation 3 first person shooter Haze.
General Strategies
- You can carry two different weapons at any given time. Try to always have a long range and short range weapon equipped. We completed most of the game with an assault rifle and shotgun load out. Often you will start off a chapter with an assault rifle and a handgun/knives - get rid of the handgun or knives ASAP for another weapon.
- If you get lost, check your compass on the top of the screen - it will give you an idea of which direction you need to go to progress.
- As a Mantel soldier, use your Nectar liberally - it regenerates over time so don't feel bad about wasting it.
- As a Rebel soldier, learn to play dead a lot. Playing dead almost always saves you from dying and enemies will often run over your "dead" body, allowing you to get back up and shoot them from behind.
Mantel Weapons
- D6 Pistol - Standard-issue pistol. You'll want to swap it out for a better gun as soon as you find one.
- B-72 Assault Rifle - Standard-issue assault rifle. You'll be using this weapon a lot as a Mantel soldier. If you are on a nectar boost, you will be able to zoom in with sniper-like accuracy.
- D118 Combat Shotgun - The Mantel shotgun. It's good for short range battles and cramped combat areas.
- 387L Rocket Launcher - The Rocket Launcher. You won't be seeing the rocket launcher in the early game, but it will be very useful to you in later missions. Try to conserve your ammunition with this as it is limited.
- B72 Sniper - The Mantel sniper rifle is another weapon you won't encounter much early. If you see one, feel free to take it and snipe away. One headshot will kill any soldier.
- Spring Cleaner - Standard-issue Mantel frag grenades. Feel free to use these liberally as you will almost certainly pick up more from the enemies you kill.
Rebel Weapons
- The Razor Tongue - Standard-issue throwing knives. If you hit the fire button you'll throw a knife out. Tap the melee attack button to slash with the knife. The knives don't do much damage, so swap them out for a real gun as you see one.
- Lobo - Standard-issue assault rifle. The most useful weapon in the game. It's got a bigger bullet clip capacity than the B-72 Assault Rifle and the iron sights are a bit more useful.
- Oso - The rebel shotgun. It's a little less powerful than the D118 Combat Shotgun, but you won't notice it much if you have no other choices.
- Mano del Dios - Rebel chaingun. It's powerful and has a big clip capacity. Unfortunately, it does not fire very accurately and there are no iron sights to zoom in with. We generally skipped this gun, but feel free to try it out if you wish.
- Dragon De La Gente - Rebel Flamethrower. This weapon only appears in one section of the game and is not useful at all. The damage is negligible and the range is laughable. Feel free to ignore it.
- Aguila - Rebel Sniper Rifle. It functions exactly like the B72 Sniper Rifle.
- MalaFruta - Standard-issue Rebel frag grenade. Use this the same way you would the Mantel grenades.
- Nectar Grenade - Grenade laced with Nectar. You can start making these once you are fighting as a Rebel. To create a Nectar Grenade, crouch over a downed Mantel Soldier and press Square when the indicator pops up on your screen. It will turn one of your equipped frag grenades into a Nectar Grenade. Nectar Grenades won't do much damage on their own, but they will cause any Mantel Soldier (except for the Black Ops soldiers) in the vicinity to overdose and fire on their comrades.
Vehicles
- The following three vehicles are available to drive in Haze. Each vehicle handles differently, but they all provide transportation. None of them have any weaponry or other unique functions. If you get too frustrated with driving any one of them, you can usually make it to your destination on foot.
- Boxcart - Mantel Buggy
- Macho - Rebel Truck
- Mula - Rebel Bike
- Tip: If you start to hear beeping while you are on a vehicle, your ride is about to blow up. Get out of the vehicle before it takes you with it. A new vehicle will spawn nearby if this happens. Look for a wheel icon on your screen to lead you towards the replacement.
Chapter One - Mantel Land Carrier
- Note: The first chapter of the game is essentially a long cutscene - you won't be seeing any action at all.
- After the cutscene you'll be in control of Carpenter. Walk forward and meet your new companions to the left of the ship.
- Once you have control again, turn around and head for the helicopter to continue the game.
- YouTube: Chapter 1: Mantel Land Carrier (Time: 7:09)
Chapter Two - Selva Region
- You will be attacked from behind as soon as your helicopter lands in the jungle. Quickly turn around and pull L2 to inject some nectar into your system. This will make the rebel soldiers glow orange, making them easier to hit.
- Tip: Enemy soldiers may be hard to see in the jungle so liberally use nectar to be able to see your targets. Also, be sure to make use of the zoom functionality of your assault rifle by clicking the right analog stick. This will make getting headshots a lot easier.
- YouTube: Chapter 2 - Selva Region Part 1 (Time: 6:59)
- Follow your compass forward into the jungle, killing soldiers along the way. Make sure to swap out your pistol for a rebel Lobo if you see one on the ground.
- Soon after you reach the checkpoint, there will be two enemies. Watch out for the one up above on the tree branch.
- After the cutscene, drop down from the cliff and continue to follow your compass marker. A handful of rebel soldiers will attack you. Dispatch them all and follow the marker.
- More rebel soldiers will attack you once you reach the crash site. Make your way slowly through the wreckage and kill them all.
- After the short scene, go towards the pilot in the cockpit to trigger another scene.
- Rebel soldiers will ambush you afterwards. If you have trouble eliminating them, use your nectar and check behind the wreckage.
- A helicopter will drop off another wave of soldiers. If you can time a cooked grenade throw, you can take most of them out with little effort.
- More soldiers will stream in from the right path, followed by another helicopter drop in the middle. The last wave of enemy soldiers will come from the left. Once they are all dead, turn around and head towards the cliff. A chopper will airlift you out, ending the chapter.
- YouTube: Chapter 2 - Selva Region Part 2 (Time: 6:14)
Chapter Three - Return to the Landcarrier
- Note: Like chapter one, this chapter contains no action.
- Once you land, follow Duvall towards some soldiers to trigger another cutscene.
- After the scene, turn around and head towards the chopper to be sent off to your next mission.
- YouTube: Chapter 3 - Return to the Landcarrier (Time: 4:04)
Chapter Four - Caridad Quarry
- Rebels will attack you when the helicopter lands. Kill them all and a Boxcart will be dropped off for you to drive.
- Walk up to the driver's seat and press Square to drive the buggy.
- Turn the buggy around and follow the spiral path up by pressing R1 to put your foot on the gas.
- Tip: The buggy tends to over steer so make small movements with the left analog stick to insure that you don't fall off.
- Continue to follow the path down after the checkpoint. Rebel soldiers will attack you as you reach a dead end. You can run them over or drive around and let your teammates shoot them with the turret.
- YouTube: Chapter 4 - Caridad Quarry Part 1 (Time: 6:51)
- Once the rebels are dead, park the buggy by the shack to the left of the gate and get out by pressing Square. Flip the lever inside the gatehouse and get back on the buggy.
- With the gate now opened, you can continue driving along the path. Watch out for the flaming barrels that drop down on the right.
- Rebels will ambush you as you drive through a building, but you can ignore them and continue driving.
- The road up ahead will be laced with mines and rebel soldiers on both sides. Try to keep the buggy on the center of the road as you drive along. When the path splits, just pick one and follow it - they both lead to the same area.
- Tip: If you hear rapid beeping, get out of the buggy ASAP. The vehicle is about to explode and you don't want to be inside it when it does. Walk forward on foot and another vehicle will spawn for you up the road.
- YouTube: Chapter 4 - Caridad Quarry Part 2 (Time: 3:36)
- You'll see some buildings up ahead. Keep driving forward and avoid the rebel vehicles that attack you. Drop down and continue driving in the middle to evade the mines on the sides of the road.
- Ignore the car's voice when it says to eliminate the terrorists in the silo, you can ignore them and continue along the road.
- You will be forced to get out of the buggy at the next building. Eliminate all the rebels and flip the lever in the little shack on the left. Get back on the buggy and continue onwards.
- Once you drive up the cliff the car will notify you that you have reached your destination. Get out of the car and walk through the gate to trigger a cutscene. Afterwards, follow your squad mates into the copper factory.
Chapter Five - Caridad Smelting Facility
- Follow Duvall until he sends you in a different direction. The screen will turn black and white from a nectar disruption, but continue to go forward.
- You'll see Merino run into a doorway. Two rebels up on the catwalk will shoot you as you chase him. Take them out and more enemies will run at you. Continue on until you reach the staircase at the end and walk up to the left side.
- Tip: The rebel soldiers will drop the "Oso" shotgun. Make sure to pick one up - it will come in handy in the indoor setting.
- Watch out for rebel soldiers as you round the corner. Carefully dispose of them and make your way to the end of the corridor. You can clear out the rooms on your left if you wish.
- Go into the last room on the left and flip the lever. This opens the door on the adjacent hallway across the bridge.
- YouTube: Chapter 5 - Caridad Smelting Plant Part 1 (Time: 7:54)
- As you walk along the bridge, rebels will snipe you near the roof. Take them out with the help of nectar/zoom. Continue across and around the corner until you reach another room. Pulling the lever here opens the door to section D on the first floor where you first saw Merino walk through.
- There will be another nectar disruption, but you should be used to it by now. Deal with the soldiers as you jump down.
- Tip: If you run out of nectar you can transfer some from your squad mates by walking behind them and pressing square.
- Walk through the door left of the bridge marked "Section D." Follow the hallway until you reach a room with rebels. Be careful here as there are lots of flammable containers strewn about.
- Walk down the first staircase you see here. As you hit the bottom you'll be hit with a full on bloodstream abnormality. You'll be unable to control your weapon firing, but you can aim and swap weapons. Try to aim at enemy soldiers as you make your way to the open doorway.
- YouTube: Chapter 5 - Caridad Smelting Plant Part 2 (Time: 9:18)
- Tip The enemies here will attack you with flamethrowers. If you catch on fire, shake your controller to stop the flames. You can pick up the "Dragon de la Gente" flamethrowers from fallen enemies if you want to, but we found the Lobo/Oso weapon load out a lot more effective.
- Kill more flame throwing enemies. Turn right when you reach the end of the room. Go up the stairs you see here. Make your way to the other side of the elevated room. You'll be fighting a lot of flamethrower and assault rifle bearing soldiers here.
- Head straight ahead through the corridor until you reach a chopper and short cutscene. Once you regain control again you'll be hit with a nectar disruption as several enemies attack you from your left. Take cover around the corner and kill these enemies. You're not going to be able to use nectar for a little bit so be especially careful as you make your way around the linear walkways.
- Once you're clearheaded again, walk down the stairs and continue following the walkways around. If you see a flare, walk towards it and over the ramp.
- Tip: If you get lost in the area, remember to look at your compass marker. Your goal is to reach a control room-like area that looks like the first room you saw right before the helicopter. Look out for a red flare on the ground.
- YouTube: Chapter 5 - Caridad Smelting Plant Part 3 (Time 6:42)
- Just as you enter the room, watch out behind you as several rebel soldiers will attempt to flank you from the back.
- Shoot the laptop you see next to the window - this is the server that controls the AA guns. A friendly chopper will blow open some debris under you, allowing you to proceed.
- Continue forward until you see a little gap in the railing on the left. Use this to jump down two floors and make your way to the newly opened passage on the ground. Watch out here for a heavy concentration of rebel soldiers.
- Follow the crucibles until you reach a fork where Duvall will call you and tell you to look for the junction switch.
- Note: Some rebels here will drop the "Mano del Dios" chaingun. Pick it up if you wish, but again we preferred the Lobo assault rifle.
- Head into the room on the left and pull the lever to change the path of the crucibles. Walk through the newly opened area here. (The crucibles will switch paths after you hit the lever so you know you are going the right direction)
- Merino will take a platform across the room. You're going to have to hoof it across the bottom of the room in order to bring the platform back. Make your way down the ladders. Be mindful of the rebel soldiers who are waiting on each floor. The switch is on the right side of the room so make your way to the elevated area on the right, carefully taking out the numerous rebel soldiers around you. There will be enemies shooting through the windows as well.
- Once you hit the button, the platform will move back to its starting position. Follow it back and climb the ladders again to get on top of it.
- Flip the switch on the platform and it will take you across the room yet again. Rebel soldiers will attack you as you are hit by a nectar disruption, so take cover behind the pipes on the platform. Walk through the door at the end to trigger a cutscene.
- Once you regain control, simply walk towards the chopper. Once Duvall catches up, the chapter is complete.
Chapter Six - Deserted Swamp
- Note: This is a another chapter with no combat.
- After the cutscenes, turn and look for some yellow firefly-esque particles. Follow the light particles until you reach the checkpoint. (You will be walking for a while. Be sure to remain on the path of the yellow lights).
- A rebel in a tank top and camo shorts will grab your attention. Follow him until you reach a cutscene. Mantel soldiers will shoot at you, but if you keep moving they won't kill you.
- YouTube: Chapter 6 - Deserted Swamp (Time: 4:33)
Chapter Seven - Cidade de Deus
- YouTube: Chapter 7 - Cidade de Deus Part 1 (Time: 6:01)
- Keep following the rebel guide until you reach another cutscene.
- Once you have control again, run up the stairs to the left to find Watchstrap. Get close and melee attack him. After you kick him, he'll bowl over in pain. Run up to him and press square to steal his weapon. Use it to end his misery.
- Walk back out of the room. Head through the room to your and up the steps. You'll see Peshy here. Use your new gun to end him as well.
- With the objectives completed, walk back down and meet up with Merino. On your way back down, feel free to use the weapons box at the bottom of the staircase to fill up on Lobo ammo. After he gives you your assignment, walk towards the chopper to end the chapter.
- YouTube: Chapter 7 - Cidade de Deus Part 2 (Time: 6:01)
Chapter Eight - Gambou South Beach
- Tip: You will start off with a Lobo and knives once you touch down. Swap out the knives for the Oso on the table as you pass by.
- Get on the Mula and start driving. The flares on the ground will guide you to where you need to go. Your rebel partner will fire at Mantel soldiers, but your best bet is to keep driving until you reach the beach. You'll know you're close when you hit a ramp.
- Follow your compass heading until you reach some debris blocking your way. You're going to have to find the mortar launcher in order to clear the debris.
- A mantel drop ship full of soldiers will attack. Get off the buggy and take cover behind the rocks to kill the soldiers. Once they are dead, follow your compass marker to reach the mortar launcher.
- Tip: Now that you are a rebel soldier, you have the ability to play dead when the game shows a little L2 icon with a skull on your screen. Use this liberally as it almost always will prevent you from dying if you are hurt. Most of the time you can immediately hit X to get up with full health.
- YouTube: Chapter 8 - Gambou South Beach Part 1 (Time: 8:58)
- Once you reach the mortar launcher, follow the controls on your screen to shoot the barricade. Aim at the giant rock behind the barricade to take it out.
- Tip: As you walk across fallen Mantel soldiers, you can press and hold square when the indicator says so to create a Nectar grenade. Nectar grenades will create a cloud of smoke that will turn Mantel soldiers against each other.
- Tip: You can also now select what kind of ammo you pick up from fallen soldiers. If you have the Oso equipped and step over a B72 Assault Rifle on the ground, you can press triangle to convert the ammo into shotgun ammo.
- Make your way back to your Mula and drive through the newly opened path. There will be a small opening between the rocks where you can squeeze through. Continue along the beach until you reach a closed gate. Get off the Mula and head through the doorway on your left. Mantel soldiers will attack as you walk up the ramps.
- Note: You will encounter large Mantel troopers decked out in black. These guys carry shotguns and can take more damage than normal soldiers. Be careful when fighting them. They'll drop D17 Combat Shotguns when you kill them. These are a bit more powerful than the Oso. Swap out shotguns if you see one on the ground.
- YouTube: Chapter 8 - Gambou South Beach Part 2 (Time: 3:38)
- As you make your way through the next door, the game will give you a little tutorial on the use of nectar grenades.
- Go down the stairs to your left and continue down until you reach the ground floor. Look to the right of the portcullis on the left to find a lever that will open both gates. Head out the gate furthest away from the one where you parked.
- You'll have to navigate a minefield. Carefully walk through, using your gun to trigger and blow up the mines from a safe distance. You're done once you climb over a ramp to see a new Mula waiting for you.
- Get on it and drive around the beach through a rock archway. A Mantel vehicle will be dropped off and come barreling towards you as soon as you pass through it. Drive as fast as you can towards the drop ship. Make a sharp right turn once you reach the opening on the right. Weave your way through the archway here. There will be automated turrets firing at you here. Another Mantel vehicle will drive straight at you. Avoid it and keep driving forward. Alternatively, you can get out of the car and use your grenades/guns to blow up one of the enemy vehicles and/or turrets to make it easier to drive through.
- When you hit a blue cargo container, you've reached your destination. Walk through a slanted cargo container and over the containers to reach a doorway and a squad of allies.
Chapter Nine - The Falcon
- Melee the door in front of you and head up the stairs. Keep going until you reach the large room filled with crates. Climb down the other set of stairs until you reach the bottom. Navigate the crates until you reach a Mantel soldier and a lengthy cutscene.
- Mantel soldiers will rush you from the sides and above. Use your shotgun to take them all out quickly. Make your way through an exploded container and go up the stairs on the other side of the room.
- As you enter the door here, get ready to fight a special forces Mantel trooper with two friends. Then head down the stairs on the other side of the room.
- Tip: A B72ESR Sniper Rifle is resting on the railing near the stairs. Exchange your assault rifle for it. The sniper rifle will come in handy in the next room.
- Take care of the Black Ops trooper at the bottom of the staircase before turning your attention towards the large room on the right. There are two automated turrets perched on the far side of the room. Snipe them first, then the Mantel soldiers below. Jump down, head to the end of the room, and turn right. Jump down again at the dead end and you'll trigger a checkpoint.
- YouTube: Chapter 9 - The Falcon Part 1 (Time: 7:48)
- Head towards your compass bearing. You'll know you've the right way once you climb up a short flight of stairs.
- Tip: You can shoot the Mantel soldiers standing above, through the grating.
- After several flights of stairs a Black Ops soldier will ambush you. Kill him, then go down more stairs on the other end.
- You'll end up in a flooded room. Look to the left as soon as you enter for a flight of stairs to climb up. Follow the walkway around until you reach more stairs. Climb them while fighting Mantel soldiers. At this point the water will be rising, but you should be moving at a fast enough pace that it shouldn't matter. The ladder at the southwest corner of the room is your goal. Climb it.
- Find a good place to take cover as the enemy will cut through the door in the northeast. Take them out as they barge in. Walk out the door they breached.
- YouTube: Chapter 9 - The Falcon Part 2 (Time: 7:37)
- Take the stairs on your left and continue walking. Ignore the first staircase, but go up the second one to a door that you can melee open. There will be a lot of enemies in here. Throw a nectar grenade or two inside so they thin each other out. Once the room is cleared, head towards the door in the north and melee it open.
- Continue walking up the stairs to reach the bridge. Kill the enemies in here while passing through to the door on the other end. Head down the stairs and hop off the broken platform. As you start walking the other way, you'll reach a checkpoint.
- An enemy chopper will appear as you go forward. Deal with the soldiers it drops and make your way across the containers to the back of the ship.
- Climb the ladder here and be prepared to tackle the soldier waiting for you on top. Keep walking forward and then left through the narrow walkway next to the green container. Your goal is another ladder to climb on the other end of the ship.
- As you reach the back of the ship, watch out for Mantel soldiers behind you. Jump or climb over to the back of the ship. You will see a couple of open entryways for you to fall into. Toss some grenades and shoot at the Mantel soldiers in here from above before jumping in.
- YouTube: Chapter 9 - The Falcon Part 3 (Time: 3:14)
- You'll see a hole that you can use to escape the ship. Jump out of the hole and head down to the beach.
Chapter Ten - Las Palmas Sudorosas
- Walk along the beach and through the large cave. You'll find several Mantel troopers below. Take them out from above if you can.
- You'll come across some automated turrets as you make your way through the cave. Find cover and take them out from a distance.
- When you exit the cave, a Mantel drop ship will give you some new playmates. Take them out and make your way across the beach. Your goal is to walk up the cliffs on the other side of the beach.
- Tip: There is a weapons box in the hut closest to the beach. Use it to get the sniper rifle. This will allow you to take out the Mantel soldiers scattered along the beach from a distance.
- Merino will notify you that a drop ship will be attacking you and that it can't be damaged right now. Run up the hill while avoiding its bullets and missiles. Use the rock formations for cover if you need to.
- YouTube: Chapter 10 - Las Palmas Sudorosas Part 1 (Time: 8:12)
- Go up the stairs into the bar/pool area of the hotel. Take cover in the circular bar as soldiers will attack you from the front.
- Continue on and head up the stairs to the front of the hotel. The drop ship will come back. Avoid its attacks again while walking across the bridges to reach the front doors.
- Make your way through the lobby while looking for a darkened staircase at the north end. Climb these stairs.
- Continue along the top walkway until you see a flare. Follow the flares through the tunnel until you drop down to a checkpoint. Continue up the stairs until you reach a dead end that your fellow rebels will blow open.
- Drop down into the courtyard to battle the Mantel soldiers. They will be hiding behind pillars on the first and second floors. Try and snipe them if you can.
- Head for the staircase marked by a flare. Go straight and hang left after you climb it. You'll see another staircase to climb with a checkpoint. Watch out as you emerge from the stairs - there will be a rocket launcher-toting soldier on the other side of the building.
- Follow the path around, being mindful of the soldier who bursts down the door to your right.
- Go into the hotel room and look to the left for a big hole you can walk through to the other side. Keep going and you'll reach a staircase that you can climb. Turn left at the top and Merino will contact you.
- Make a left into the doorway at the end of the path. Don't drop down or else you'll have to climb up again. Navigate the hotel rooms back outside again, following the flares until you reach a staircase heading up.
- YouTube: Chapter 10 - Las Palmas Sudorosas Part 2 (Time: 8:17)
- Tip: The shotgun is very useful during this portion of the level.
- You'll end up at the roof of the building. Unfortunately your nemesis, the enemy drop ship, is there to greet you. Dodge its rockets and make your way across the roof while fighting soldiers. Eventually, you'll reach the end and be picked up by Merino's chopper.
- After the cutscene, you'll be manning a chaingun on the side of the helicopter. Finally! You can take out the drop ship now!
- Tip: You have unlimited ammo with the chaingun. It won't overheat either, so keep your finger on the trigger button at all times. You can also zoom in with the right analog stick to help you aim better.
- Don't worry about defending your chopper, just keep your crosshairs trained on the drop ship and it will go down soon enough.
Chapter Eleven - Cidade de Deus (Defense)
- You'll start off the chapter still manning the chaingun on the helicopter. Your goal is to kill as many enemy forces on the ground as you can. Fortunately, the Mantel soldiers have bright yellow uniforms, so spotting them shouldn't be difficult. There's no penalty for allowing the rebel soldiers to die, so just keep aiming at the enemy until the helicopter moves on.
- The helicopter will stop again above the village. Take out all enemy soldiers you see. Try to kill the rocket launcher soldiers first.
- You will then be dropped down on foot outside of the village. Your weapons are reset, so don't forget to swap your knives for a more useful gun as you come across one.
- Your goal now is to take out the 3 artillery guns besieging the village, along with the Mantel soldiers guarding them. The one to the west is closest to you, so follow the marker on your compass to it. When you get to it, go around the back. Look for a panel that glows slightly orange. Shoot this a couple of times and you will disable it.
- Now repeat the process for the other two artillery guns. Fortunately, they are right next to each other. Just follow the markers on your compass to reach them both.
- YouTube: Chapter 11 - Cidade de Deus Defense Part 1 (Time: 6:48)
- With the guns taken out, you must make your way back to the village. Merino will drop flares to light the way back for you. Go through the school bus doors to enter the village.
- Note: Merino will tell you to rescue some villagers as you pass through. They are hiding in buildings marked with red flares. There's no penalty for ignoring them so you can feel free to just move on if you wish. If you decide to rescue them, some of the buildings will have ammo boxes where you can replenish your ammo.
- There will be a steady stream of enemies to fight here. Forge your way through the village, following the compass heading.
- You'll eventually reach a checkpoint and Merino will inform you that he has spotted a tank nearby. You can fight the tank one of two ways. If you head east, you'll reach a building with a ladder. Climbing that ladder will take you to a room with a rocket launcher weapons box. You know what to do with it. Otherwise you can toss grenades and shoot the tank as it slowly circles the building in the middle. It's not too fast, so this isn't that tough to accomplish.
- Tip: When aiming the rocket launcher, if you don't zoom and leave the crosshair on a target, it will slowly turn green and beep. Once it does this you have achieved lock and can fire and forget.
- YouTube: Chapter 11 - Cidade de Deus Defense Part 2 (Time: 6:34)
- Regardless of how you fought the tank, you should pick up a rocket launcher. You'll need it soon.
- More Mantel soldiers will stream in. Take care of them before moving on to rendezvous with Merino at the church. Follow the flares and the marker on your compass to reach Merino. You'll pass through a round building with an Oso ammo box inside. Watch out for Mantel soldiers on the roofs of buildings as you make your way through the village.
- When you reach a building with a staircase, you'll know that you're close. Be careful when you get to the second floor - there are several Black Ops soldiers in here.
- Drop down into the courtyard where you first became a rebel soldier and go up the stairs to the church where Merino is. He'll give you some grenades to mine the courtyard with. Place a couple of mines near the southwest door. This is where Mantel soldiers will attack first.
- Tip: To place a mine, look towards the ground and hold down L1 when the screen prompt pops up.
- YouTube: Chapter 11 - Cidade de Deus Defense Part 3 (Time: 5:01)
- Be prepared, soldiers will also pour in from the east and north. Don't worry if you didn't have time to place all of your mines. It's not completely necessary that you get them all with mines. Watch out if you stayed back at the church with Merino. Enemies will come from that area.
- Once the onslaught is over, meet Merino at the church and a cutscene will occur. Duvall will attack in his drop ship. It'll be up to you to take him out. Hopefully you still have some rockets left from the tank battle. Two or three rockets will take out Duvall easily. If you don't have any rockets, use the fixed gun placement to fire at him.
- After Duvall crashes and burns, quickly move out of the way. The church bell tower will crash down onto the turret.
- Follow your compass to the outside of the rebel base. You will see a giant missile on wheels. Your next task will be to escort it on foot.
Chapter Twelve - Boa Bridge
- Note: Your goal is to escort the giant missile across the bridge. If you go too far ahead, the missile will stop moving. Try and stay within a reasonable distance of it. Also, mind the front of the missile, as you can get run over by it if you're not paying attention.
- Rocket soldiers will fire on you from the towers in the distance. Take them out if you have a long range bullet weapon, otherwise just avoid the rockets. After you kill the guards stationed on the road, a drop ship will appear with more enemies.
- Tip: There are two ammo boxes next to each tower at the front of the bridge. One contains rocket launcher ammo and the other contains sniper rifle bullets. Pick up both of these guns if you don't have them already.
- Two drop ships will appear, to the front and to the side. The one in front will start laying mines and then fly off. Use your rocket launcher to take out the one on the side, as it will stay to attack you. Then, take out the soldiers on the bridge using your sniper rifle. Since both of your weapons are long range, you can hang back by the ammo boxes to replenish your ammo if you run low.
- If you zoom in, you can see a couple of automated turrets further down the bridge. Take this opportunity to take them out with one shot each.
- YouTube: Chapter 12 - Boa Bridge Part 1 (Time: 7:24)
- You will then be asked to clear the bridge of the mines. We found it easiest to shoot rockets at the mines from a distance, making good use of the ammo box. You will get a checkpoint once you clear the mines.
- Soldiers will attack you from the sides of the bridge. Look out for the Black Ops trooper on the bridge in the distance. He has a rocket launcher, so snipe him before he can get a shot off.
- After the checkpoint, another gunship will attack you from the side. It will be joined by more Mantel soldiers in the front. Snipe the soldiers and rocket the ship. Your goal now is to destroy the drop ship pod at the end of the bridge. It will be an easy target once you remove the nearby soldiers, as it won't attack you. If you run out of rockets, throw some grenades at it until it explodes.
- Once the missile reaches the end of the bridge, meet up with Merino to trigger a cutscene.
- You are then asked to blow up the bridge by triggering two bombs underneath the bridge. Walk back across the top of the bridge until you get to sites D and C at the middle of the bridge. Since D is sealed off, you'll have to walk down the stairs from Site C. Watch out for the automated turret stationed in front of the bomb panel. There will be flares marking the spot where you have to trigger the bomb.
- YouTube: Chapter 12 - Boa Bridge Part 2 (Time: 4:15)
- Once you trigger the bomb at site D, you will be asked to go to site B. This site is near the end of the bridge where the missile ended up. Again, you'll have to go down the stairs at site A in order to reach B. Watch out as you walk across the bridge again, there will be a tank approaching you from behind. You can take it out with rockets or just avoid its fire. Flares will mark site B in case you get lost. Automated turrets and lots of Mantel soldiers will greet you under the bridge so be prepared.
- After you trigger both bombs, head back topside towards Merino again to trigger a cutscene and end the chapter.
Chapter Thirteen - Dientes de Vaca
- Walk forward and get into the rebel truck parked in front of the tunnel entrance. You are going to be doing a lot of driving in this chapter, so get those racing game skills ready!
- Continue to drive up the path. Don't stop for anything! Hang left whenever there was a fork in the road.
- Tip: You can drive right through the small yellow and black barriers.
- After the checkpoint, there will be another fork in the road. If you can stick to the narrow road on the right, you will end up past the roadblock. Otherwise, you may have to use some creative maneuvering to continue on.
- Once you drop down after the bridge, there will be a large open area. If you put the pedal to the floor, you can keep driving forward and pass the tank blocking the road. Otherwise, if you get stuck, you may have to get out of the car and kill the soldiers/tank in order to continue on.
- YouTube: Chapter 13 - Dientes de Vaca Part 1 (Time: 6:01)
- There will soon be a checkpoint and another fork in the road. Here's where you're going to need to get out of the car. There is a minefield to the left and a roadblock to the right. Kill the soldiers in this little area and move on to the newly spawned rebel truck. You can also drive the marine buggy parked nearby if you prefer.
- Tip: If you climb up the ladder next to the trailer, you will find a sniper rifle ammo box.
- This upcoming section may be a little tricky since you can now fall off the path for an instantaneous death. Carefully drive your vehicle along the path, minding the black gaps on the sides. Mortar fire will be aimed at you, but concentrate on moving forward and you should be fine.
- Shortly after the next checkpoint, you'll come to a small village with a roadblock. If you're lucky or headstrong enough (or both), you can barrel through it and continue on through the tunnel on the right. More likely than not, you'll have to get out on foot and forcibly remove the tanks and soldiers before you can continue on.
- As you drive on, you'll see Mantel soldiers firing at rebel soldiers. Ignore them and continue forward until you see two paths - one going up and one going down. Take the path up and exit the car in front of the open mine entrance.
- YouTube: Chapter 13 - Dientes de Vaca Part 2 (Time: 7:44)
- Walk along the path until you reach an open area with automated turrets. Dispatch these turrets and continue on the bridge to the right. (The bridge on the left will lead you to your doom)
- Keep following the heading on your compass, taking out soldiers and turrets along the way. Watch out for turrets on the ceiling of the cave as well.
- Tip: If you still have your sniper rifle, use it to kill turrets with one shot, making this section really easy.
- The end of the chapter occurs when you see a ladder right behind a turret.
Chapter Fourteen - Mirador del Aguila
- Go up the hill until you reach a circle of Mantel trucks and soldiers. There are about 5-7 soldiers here. Kill them and move inside the observatory through the one of the openings.
- Make your way down the observatory while killing Mantel soldiers. Your goal is to reach the other side of the globe and go through the door on the first floor.
- You want to make your way up the hill to the cable car station. Mortar fire will rain down on you from afar. Watch out for the automated turret on the way too.
- YouTube: Chapter 14 - Mirador del Aguila Part 1 (Time: 7:01)
- As you approach the building, watch out for the snipers on the roof. Your goal is to make your way to the roof. There are a lot of Black Ops and normal Mantel soldiers inside, so watch out.
- After the spiral staircase you'll walk out onto the roof. A gunship will fly out in front of you. Try and trick the gunship to fly into the radio tower you see in order to make a bridge that you can walk through. There's an ammo box with rockets next to the radio tower if you're brave enough to make your way there. Be mindful of the Mantel snipers right under the radio tower and on top of the barn to the left.
- YouTube: Chapter 14 - Mirador del Aguila Part 2 (Time: 6:37)
- Make your way across the bridge into the cable car station. Black Ops soldiers and automated turrets will greet you here.
- Climb the stairs across the room and wait for the cable car to come in. Kill the soldiers in it and walk in for a ride.
- You will face a new type of enemy in the cable car - the Spec Ops soldier. They aren't affected by nectar grenades, but otherwise aren't too much harder to kill than a normal soldier.
- YouTube: Chapter 14 - Mirador del Aguila Part 3 (Time: 6:17)
- After you get off the cable car, make your way to the first floor and a doorway on the side where you got off the car. Watch out for the artillery and missile launcher as you make your way down the valley and across the bridges.
- Tip: There's a Mula here if you want to drive it. We ignored it and went forward on foot.
- Your next goal is to head towards the right side of the large domed building. Watch out for the snipers perched up top of the dome as you make your way through the crossfire.
- YouTube: Chapter 14 - Mirador del Aguila Part 4 (Time: 5:16)
- Keep going past an area with trucks and automated turrets until you reach an entrance into the building. You should see the mortar launcher that was tormenting you earlier.
- The Nectar Administrator is the giant construct in the middle of the building. Merino will tell you that you need to smash two circuit breakers in order to destroy it. The circuit breakers are upstairs on bridges connected to the Nectar Administrator. Take an elevator on the side of the room to get up there.
- Shoot the circuit breakers and the core will be exposed with four turrets. Mantel soldiers will also rappel from the sky on your position. Quickly shoot the turrets to explode them all quickly. Once the coast is clear, go to the core and press the buttons on the four consoles to end the threat of Nectar for good.
- YouTube: Chapter 14 - Mirador del Aguila Part 5 Time: 3:29)
- Drop down and go through the emergency doors to trigger a cutscene.
- Your next goal is to kill 4 Black Ops guys at each of the AA turrets. They'll show up on your compass outside of the building. Take them out one by one. A drop ship will drop about 7 more Black Ops soldiers at you while you are working on this.
- Once they are all dead, a helicopter will arrive at the helipad to extract you. Walk towards it to end the chapter.
Chapter Fifteen - Landcarrier Assault
- Walk towards the group of rebels to view the cutscene. Once it's over, walk towards the vehicles to go on a little non-interactive ride.
- After you get control back, you'll be manning a chaingun in an on-rails sequence. Shoot the cannons and soldiers in that order. Once you are under the landcarrier, aim at the gray pipes.
- YouTube: Chapter 15 - Landcarrier Assault Part 1 (Time: 81)
- Once you land, take the stairs on the left side of the hanger. You'll know you took the correct path if you see an automated turret in the first doorway.
- Turn left as you reach the edge of the landcarrier and follow the ramps until you reach the control room. Pull the lever here to open the hanger doors.
- YouTube: Chapter 15 - Landcarrier Assault Part 2 (Time: 4:00)
- Work your way back to the spot where you landed. The hanger doors are now open so you can now go inside. A stationary tank will fire at you from the middle of the room. Toss some grenades at it to blow it up. Then, head towards the back of the room and press a console button to open the door.
- A drop ship will attack you from the side of the landcarrier. Quickly run forward into the room. You'll reach a dead end, but there will be a rocket launcher ammo box here to aid you in your fight.
- Once the drop ship is shot down, head down the right side of the ship away from the hanger. You'll eventually come across a server room where you'll have to defend a hacker.
- YouTube: Chapter 15 - Landcarrier Assault Part 3 (Time: 3:24)
- Black Ops soldiers will start streaming in from all sides. They'll throw a reverse nectar grenade at you that will disrupt your vision. Work through the obfuscation if you get hit.
- After you survive the onslaught, go out the door across from the one you entered. Head up the stairs and keep following the path until you reach a flare and a button. Press it and an elevator will rise up to take you to the deck.
- There will be a TON of soldiers here. Kill them while making your way to one of the ends of the landcarrier. Two drop ships will attack you, but you can shoot them down by getting on one of the AA turrets. Repeat the process on the other end of the ship.
- YouTube: Chapter 15 - Landcarrier Assault Part 4 (Time: 7:18)
- Walk towards the control tower marked on your compass. To get up there, go up the downed plane and enter the bridge where you'll find Duvall and a cutscene.
- Time to kill the annoying bastard! He's not your average soldier. It'll take more than a few bullets to kill him, but he isn't too tough. Just take cover every so often and unload on him with all you've got.
- After the scene, run back outside and jump down to meet Merino on a helicopter.
- Congratulations! You've finished the Haze campaign!
