Hurricane Hanna hit the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos on September 1, 2008.1 Hanna made landfall in the United States on September 6; after first striking the Carolinas the storm weakened as it moved up the coast.2 The storm follows Hurricane Gustav, which made landfall in Louisiana and other Gulf states on September 1, 2008.3
