Fundamentals

  1. Your shields will deplete with enemy fire, but recharge after a few seconds. Get behind cover to allow them to recharge. If you continue taking damage once your shield is depleted, you will lose health. Find a Medkit if you get low on health. They are white with a red cross on them and are scattered throughout the game.
  2. Ammunition is not always plentiful. Swap your weapon for an enemy weapon if you need to.
  3. Walls and large objects work best for hiding behind. Halo does not have a cover system like later games. You will need to manually remove yourself from the line of fire.
  4. There is typically only one way to go. Follow your men or look for enemies if you get lost.
  5. The Covenant will show no mercy. Show them none in return. Keep shooting until your enemy drops his weapon. Be warned that the enemy will sometimes fire off a few shots in their death throes.
  6. Aim for the head. Aim for the body if you can't hit the head.

Weapons

  1. Pistol - This is an excellent mid-range sniping weapon. It has excellent power but a low rate of fire. It is accurate, but can be a bit rare later in the game. The Pistol is most effective against Grunts, Jackals and Elites.
  2. Assault Rifle - This will be your staple weapon. It is fast, decently-powered and very common. The Assault Rifle is excellent for killing Grunts, Jackals, Elites, Flood and Carriers. Note that the Assault Rifle's effectiveness decreases over distances. This gun is best used at short to medium ranges.
  3. Shotgun - This weapon appears later in the game. This gun will be your best friend once you meet The Flood. The Shotgun is very powerful, but short-ranged. It can kill anything short of Elites and Hunters in a single shot. Best used at short range.
  4. Sniper Rifle - This weapon is the best bet for hitting distant targets. It typically kills in one to three shots. It only carries four shells in a magazine. It is rare at best. Use only when needed. The Sniper Rifle is highly effective against Jackals and Elites. Don't bother using it on Drones, Grunts or Hunters.
  5. Rocket Launcher - This is the best weapon for eliminating Hunters and large groups of enemies quickly. It is devastatingly powerful and has a large area of effect. It is also rare. Use only as needed. Do not fire at close range.
  6. Plasma Pistol - This weapon is found on Grunts and Jackals. It is low-powered but very common. It can charge up and fire a more powerful attack. Doing so will train the battery faster. Firing this weapon quickly will overheat it. The Plasma Pistol and it's cousin the Plasma Rifle are equally effective against all opponents.
  7. Plasma Rifle - The Covenant equivalent of the Assault Rifle. The Plasma Rifle has good power, range and accuracy. It will overheat if fired repeatedly. Use in short bursts.
  8. Needler - This is an exotic weapon carried by Grunts, Jackals and some Elites. It fires heat-seeking needles that explode on impact. Firing a large volley at a single target will cause a huge explosion. This weapon is relatively common. It is best used at medium range.
  9. Frag Grenades - These are common in the early levels. They are excellent for clearing groups of enemies in tight confines such as hallways. Make sure it doesn't land too close. They are effective against everything but Hunters.
  10. Plasma Grenades - These are very common. They can be found on Grunts, Jackals and Elites. They stick to many targets (yourself included.) They are excellent for dispatching tough enemies like Elites quickly. They are moderately effective against Hunters. They are very effective against everything else.

Enemies

  1. Grunts - These are the small Covenant troops that sound like Three Stooges. They are slow, weak and easy to kill. Any weapon works well against them. They can typically be killed in one to three pistols shots. Note that if they are near an Elite, killing the Elite will cause the Grunts to scatter.
  2. Jackals - These are tough Covenant troops that carry shields. They use the charge attack on their Plasma Pistols and can be dangerous if left alone. Pistols and Snipe Rifles work best for taking them out.
  3. Elites - These are the cream of the Covenant crop. They are fast, tough and very dangerous. They carry a variety of weapons from Plasma Rifles to deadly swords. Shoot Elites before anything else. They are highly susceptible to Shotguns, Plasma Grenades and Sniper Rifles.
  4. Hunters - These are large Covenant shocktroops. They carry a devastating Plasma Cannon and a large shield. They are only susceptible to Rockets and Shotguns. Try to destroy them with vehicles or gun turrets.
  5. Flood - These are the small insectoid-like creatures that come with The Flood. They are weak against every weapon and require next to nothing to kill. Their greatest threat is numbers. They will approach you and explode. They cause little damage on their own, but are very dangerous in large numbers.
  6. Drones - These monstrosities are the agents of The Flood. They are born from humans and Covenant alike. One blast from a Shotgun will kill them at short range.
  7. Carriers - These bloated horrors are charged with spreading The Flood. They will explode if they get near you. Shoot them immediately upon sight. They are weak against everything. Like Drones, they are best dispatched with the Shotgun.
  8. Sentinels - These machines are agents of The Monitor. They float above the ground and use lasers to burn enemies like The Flood and you. They are vulnerable to Shotguns at close range.

The Pillar of Autumn

  1. Follow the technician's instructions. This will give you the chance to get a feel for the controls. You will also be given the chance to invert your Y camera axis if you wish.
  2. Follow the technician down the hall. Your objective is to find Captain Keyes on the bridge. Note that there is only one way to go. Also note the colors of the locks on the doors. If the lock is red, the door will not open. If it is green, you can go through.
  3. Go back down the hall. Go into the gap in the wall with the tubes running through. Jump over the tubes.
  4. Go down the hall to your right. Go through the door.
  5. Press L3 to crouch under the door on your left.
  6. Go down the hall. Look for a blue arrow on the floor. Follow it through the doors.
  7. Go through the doors. Take a left as you go through. Don't worry about the enemy. The Marines will take care of him.
  8. Continue through the hallway until you find the Marine who speaks to you. Follow him.
  9. Go past the Marine once he stops. Go through the door on the left to get to the bridge. Find Captain Keyes at the far end.
  10. Leave the bridge once you have Cortana. Go back the way you came through the corridors. There is only one way to go.
  11. Shoot the three Grunts in the corridor ahead. You will pick up some pistol ammo as you meet them.
  12. Continue into the cafeteria. You will pick up an Assault Rifle on the way in. Use this to help the Marines clear the cafeteria.
  13. Head into the hallway at the far end of the cafeteria. There will be a few more enemies here for you to sharpen your skills on. There is also some extra ammo behind a fallen control panel.
  14. Look for the red sign on the floor that says Airlock. Follow that corridor.
  15. Follow the Marines around to the airlock. There will be several enemies coming in through the airlock. Use the hallway as a choke point. Mow them down with the Assault Rifle. Duck back around the corners if you start taking heavy fire.
  16. TIP: Head inside the boarding craft once the enemies are dead. There will be an Over Boost at the end of the hall. Grab it. This allows your shield to take more damage before it depletes.
  17. Follow the Marines through the corridor to the left. Look for the green sign on the floor marked Stairs. Go through the corridor and take a right.
  18. Go down this hall to flank the enemy. They will be busy shooting at the Marines. Hit them hard before you pull back around the corner.
  19. Head down the hallway the enemy came from once they are cleared.
  20. Follow the red Airlock arrow on the floor.
  21. Follow the Marines through the corridors. Eliminate the small groups of enemies. You won't find more than a couple Grunts in each group. They are easy prey for your Assault Rifle.
  22. TIP: You will pass another airlock like the first. There is another Over Boost at the back. Grab it.
  23. Continue following the Marines. Charge into the two-story room where the Covenant are hiding.
  24. Charge up the stairs. Use the barriers on the upper level as cover. There will be several enemies here so make sure you stay behind something.
  25. Follow the Marines down the next corridor.
  26. TIP: Use the large support struts in the hall as cover while you advance.
  27. Keep moving through the corridors. There won't be many enemies here, but keep on your guard.
  28. Follow the lit path to the green Maintenance arrow. The Nav Point will lead you to it if you can't find it.
  29. TIP: Grab the Medkits on the floor if you need health.
  30. Go through the Maintenance door. Head through the maintenance tunnels. There are two ways to go, either one works fine.
  31. You will receive the Motion Tracker. This alerts you of any enemies nearby who are on the move.
  32. Head up to the broken door. Use a melee attack on it to break it down.
  33. Head through the corridor. You will encounter two groups of Grunts and a pair of Elites. Use the doorways on the sides of the hall for cover while you take them out.
  34. Follow the hallway. Enter the next set of maintenance tunnels. They are short and there is only one way to go. There are a few Grunts in here.
  35. Head back into the corridor and fight your way to the left. Beware! There is a Red Elite at the end of the hall. You must kill him in order to advance.
  36. TIP: Look for another maintenance tunnel. Go through it to find a set of grenades next to a barricade.
  37. Use the grenades and whatever weapons you can find to take out the Red Elite. He is fast and tough. Stay behind cover and make sure your shields recharge before you charge at him.
  38. Jump over the barricade. Continue down the hallway.
  39. Mission Complete.

Halo

Flawless Cowboy

YouTube: Halo Combat Evolved - Flawless Cowboy (Time: 9:56)

  1. Grab any supplies you can from the crash site.
  2. Take a left as you leave the lifeboat.
  3. Try to avoid the Covenant Dropships. They will deploy troops if they spot you. Get behind a rock or tree to evade them.
  4. Go across the bridge. Head up the hill.
  5. TIP: Get away from the lifeboat quickly. A bunch of Grunts and some Elites are coming. Either run quickly or stay and fight them. Use the rocks and the lifeboat as cover if you decide to fight.
  6. TIP: Watch out for Banshee aircraft on your way up the hill. They will try to strafe you. Use the trees as cover.
  7. Make your way up the hill. You will come across another group of Grunts and an Elite. Run them around the trees as you strafe them with the Assault Rifle.
  8. Continue along the path. Defend the Marines when you get to them. A Covenant Dropship will unload a squad of Grunts.
  9. Group up with the Marines and find a place to dig in. Enemy reinforcements are coming. You will need to fight off several waves of enemies. Each wave will contain several (4+) Grunts, one or two Elites and one or two Jackals. Stick close to the survivors. Try to find a spot with plenty of cover. You'll need it.
  10. TIP: Try to toss a frag grenade at the enemies when they first land. This can make things easier.
  11. TIP: Get on top of the building in the middle of the field. This way you'll only need to defend the ramps up.
  12. Head to the Nav Point when it appears.
  13. Get in the Driver's side of the Warthog.
  14. Take a right. Head down the hill. Look for the pit with the light-colored rock.
  15. Drive into the cave and follow it. There will be a small jump you have to make. Follow the ramp around and try again if you fall.
  16. Get out of the Warthog once you start taking fire from enemy forces.
  17. Clear the area. There will be several Grunts and a few Elites hanging around. Fortunately, there is lots of cover for you to use.
  18. Go to the right side of the bridge. Clear the area. Look for a ramp leading up along the wall.
  19. TIP: There is a Red Elite waiting at the top of the ramp. Stick a plasma grenade to him.
  20. Head to the end of the ramp. You will find a Control Panel.
  21. Use the Control Panel to activate the bridge.
  22. Get back in the Warthog. Go across the bridge.
  23. Continue along the tunnel.

Reunion Tour

  1. Drive up the hill. Follow the river.
  2. Look for a pair of flashing lights on the left side of the river.
  3. Go through the lights and up the hill.
  4. Head to the first structure you see. There will be Grunts and Jackals around it. Use the trees and rocks as cover.
  5. Head down into the structure to find a squad of Marines.
  6. Escort the Marines out for evacuation.
  7. TIP: Driving alongside a Marine will cause them to get into the Warthog with you.
  8. Head to the second structure (the big one) and clear it off. There will be several Grunts and Elites on it. If you picked up Marines in the Warthog, make a couple passes. This will allow them to shoot some of the guards down.
  9. Head up top once the outside is clear.
  10. Use this second level as a sniping point. Pick off the Grunts surrounding the next bunker.
  11. Head inside the next bunker. Fight your way down. Watch out for the Red Elite. Use grenades to get him.
  12. Go back and get inside the Warthog. Take it around the outside wall until you find a canyon leading up.
  13. Follow the canyon. This will take you back to the valley where you started.
  14. Follow the eastern canyon wall until you see another pair of flashing lights. Go through them to find the rock slide.
  15. Clear the Grunts and Elites in the rocky area.
  16. Several Dropships are about to unload into the clearing. Use the Warthog to chase down as many Grunts, Jackals and Elites as you can. Hitting an enemy with the Warthog is an instant kill.
  17. Keep fending off Covenant troops until you get the notice of an incoming pickup.
  18. Exit the canyon. Return to the main valley.
  19. Follow the river until you find the last set of flashing lights.
  20. Enter the small valley. You will see a large structure in the center.
  21. Head for the hill behind the structure to find some Marines.
  22. TIP: There is a dead Marine behind a rock with a Sniper Rifle next to him. Swap it for one of your weapons if you wish.
  23. Draw the enemies in the valley up the hill to the Marines. Your objectives will complete once you eliminate the last enemies in the valley.
  24. Board the dropship when it arrives.
  25. Mission Complete.

Truth and Reconciliation

YouTube: Halo Truth and Reconcilication Walkthrough (Time: 32:19)

  1. Follow the Marines up the hill.
  2. Move to the edge of the canyon wall. Around the corner will be several Jackals, Grunts and a Grunt in a gun turret.
  3. Use the Sniper Rifle to pick them off before moving in.
  4. TIP: Shoot the gunner first.
  5. Clear out the canyon. You will encounter two more gun turrets as well as several Grunts and a few Jackals. There are lots of rocks and trees for cover. Make sure you're using them.
  6. Make your way up the hill. Stick to the walls to avoid falling. You will encounter several more gun turrets. Use the Sniper Rifle to pick them off.
  7. TIP: There is an ammo cache at the base of a small cliff. Look for corpses to find it.
  8. Use the Sniper Rifle to eliminate any Red Elites you come across. There will be at least one on your way up the hill.
  9. Use any gun turrets you find to help clear the path. This will save time and ammunition. Be aware that you cannot move while you are in the turret. This can leave you vulnerable to flank attacks and grenades.
  10. Look for a small canyon on the eastern wall. Go through it. There will be several Grunts and a pair of Elites waiting for you in the canyon. Use grenades to flush them out.
  11. Take cover quickly after you come through the canyon. There are three gun turrets you will need to disable.
  12. TIP: Keep one of the gun turrets intact so you can use it to defend against the troops that come out of the dropships.
  13. NOTE: There will be a huge group of Grunts, Elites and Jackals around the ring in the center of the area (where the pillar of purple light is coming from.) Use one of the gun turrets on the hill to eliminate them.
  14. A pair of Hunters will drop down after you have cleared out the Grunts, Jackals and Elites. Either use Plasma Grenades or the gun turret to eliminate them. Keep them at a distance. They are very dangerous up close.

Into the Belly of the Beast

  1. Regroup in the center with the Marines. Enemies troops are about to enter. Look for one of the four doors opening.
  2. Shoot the glowing sword the second you see it. The Elite carrying the sword is invisible. The sword is not. Fill him full of bullets quickly. His blade can kill you in a single hit.
  3. Fend off the other waves. A group of Grunts and Elites will come out of every other door in the room. The groups are small (no more than five enemies each) but they can be dangerous if you don't kill them quickly enough.
  4. Follow the Marines through the large gray doors once they open. There will be a pair of Jackals blocking your way. Use the doorway as cover.
  5. Head back to the main room. Your job is to find a way around the locked door.
  6. Go through the open door (there's only one) in the main room.
  7. Follow the corridor to the two story room. There will be a few Elites and several (5+) Grunts. Use grenades to clear them out from the upper level.
  8. Drop down and open the door as soon as you can. Enemy reinforcements will be pouring in. They may overwhelm you without the Marines' help.
  9. Follow the Nav Point to the open door once the room is clear.
  10. Head down through the tunnels. They will be lightly guarded with Grunts, Elites and Jackals. Use the side tunnels as cover while you advance.
  11. Go into the large hangar at the end of the tunnels. Move in quickly and get to cover. The hangar is filled with Grunts, Jackals and a few Elites. Use whatever cover you can find. Assist the Marines in clearing the hangar. Swap weapons if you need to.
  12. TIP: There will be enemies on top of the large structure in the center. Pick them off first. There will also be enemies on the upper levels. Pick them off second.
  13. The enemies in here will continually reinforce. Find a good spot to defend and keep the Marines alive.
  14. Keep fighting until you get notice that Cortana is going to open a door for you. Two Hunters will appear from another door close by. Eliminate them quickly by running them around one of the parked vehicles.
  15. Head through the open door.
  16. Be on the lookout for another Sword-carrying Elite. He will appear near the top of a ramp. Get him before he gets you.
  17. Continue fighting your way through the tunnels. Most of the opposition will be Grunts with their backs turned. The tunnels will take you to the second floor of the hangar.
  18. Clear the second level. There should only be a couple Grunts and a pair of Elites (one of which may be cloaked.) Use the large boxes for cover.
  19. Head to the platform in the center of the hangar. Activate the hangar doors to allow reinforcements in.
  20. Take a right and go through the open door. This tunnel will lead you to the upper level.
  21. Clear the tunnel with the Marines. Use the alcoves on the sides of the tunnel as cover.
  22. TIP: Watch out for the Red Elite near the end. The Marines will help suppress him. Try and snag him with a plasma grenade.
  23. Clear out the upper level of the hangar bay. Watch your back once you reach the far side. Enemy reinforcements will hit you from the rear.
  24. Head into the tunnels at the far end. The tunnels should be empty.
  25. Sneak into the room at the end of the tunnel. Sneaking in will give you a few seconds to snipe an enemy or two before the Marines go charging in. Try and use this time to eliminate the Elites.
  26. Clear the room. There are two levels. Clear the lower level first.
  27. TIP: Watch out for the Yellow Elite! He may not be cloaked, but he does carry a sword. Try and hit him with the Sniper Rifle if you can. Two shots will bring him down.
  28. Follow the Nav Point to the open door.
  29. Go through the next series of tunnels. Take a left at the first junction.
  30. Eliminate the Grunts and Jackals you come across. There will be three to five Grunts and a pair of Jackals. Use grenades to make short work of them.
  31. Fight your way to the Brig. It is at the far end of the tunnel.
  32. Go straight across to the control panel and unlock the doors.
  33. TIP: There is a dead Marine in the first cell on the left as you come in. He has ammo, grenades and a Medkit. There is also an Active Camouflage powerup behind the control panel. Grab it.
  34. Leave the Brig when you have all the supplies.
  35. NOTE: Use melee attacks while you have the Active Camo on. This will save ammo. Be aware that taking damage while in Active Camo makes you visible.
  36. Follow the tunnel into the next Brig. There are some Grunts, two cloaked Elites and a Yellow Elite in here. Kill the Grunts first. Use plasma grenades on the Elites.
  37. TIP: Don't get close to the Elites. They can smell you even in Active Camo.
  38. Use the control panel to open the doors.
  39. Find Captain Keyes in his cell.

Shut Up and get Behind Me... Sir

  1. Grab the ammo and Medkit from the dead Marine in the cell.
  2. Fight your way out into the tunnel. Several Jackals (3+) and some Grunts will be there to stop you. Hug the walls for cover and use grenades to clear them.
  3. Head back through the tunnels. Make your way to the hangar.
  4. Beware! The tunnels will be lightly defended. The control room will have a pair of Yellow Elites in it. Use plasma grenades on them quickly before they get their act together.
  5. Go through an open door (either one, they lead to the same place.) Haul it to the hangar.
  6. Fight your way across the upper level.
  7. Use the control panel on the right to release the dropship.
  8. Mission Complete.

The Silent Cartographer

YouTube: Halo The Silent Cartographer (Time: 40:15)

  1. Help the Marines clear the drop zone. Use the rocks as cover.
  2. Get in the Warthog.
  3. Drive down the beach. You can skip the enemies along the path. Your gunner will take care of most of them.

  7. Leave the facility. Continue down the beach.
  8. TIP: There is an Over Boost next to a box outside. Grab it.
  9. Destroy the Jackals at the end of the beach. Driving over the small hill will drop the Warthog right into the middle of their circle. Try and run down as many as you can while your gunner picks off the rest.
  10. TIP: There is a dead Marine next to the wrecked Warthog near the water. You will find ammo, grenades and a Medkit there.
  11. Follow the path leading up the hill.

  14. TIP: Toss a Frag Grenade if you see the Grunts bunch up in the canyon.
  15. Follow the right-hand wall of the canyon. Stop when you reach the edge. There are two Hunters around the corner. Use your Pistol and grenades to kill them from a distance.
  16. TIP: Get well back when you see them charge their guns. The blast can still kill you even if it doesn't hit you.
  17. Head down to the area where the Hunters are. Grab the Over Boost near the crates.
  18. Continue down the path. Four Jackals will be waiting just past the edge. Use your Assault Rifle to finish them quickly.
  19. Advance along the path using rocks and trees as cover. Use your Pistol to snipe enemies at range.
  20. Keep moving down the path until you get to the facility.
  21. Clear the facility using the Assault Rifle and grenades.
  22. TIP: There are two Hunters on the lower level. Use Plasma Grenades to kill them quickly. Try and stay close enough that they try to melee you. The splash damage from their cannons is deadly in the confines of the lower level.
  23. Grab the Over Boost sitting outside by the crates.
  24. Go through the tunnel at the rear of the lower level.
  25. Use the control panel to deactivate the security system.

  7. Head through the door at the bottom of the stairs. Take a right.
  8. Resupply at the dead Marines.
  9. Head around the bend to your left. Stop when you get to the corner.
  10. Look into the courtyard in the middle of the room. There will be a Hunter, three to four Jackals and a couple Grunts. Use your Rocket Launcher on the Hunter. Finish the rest with your Assault Rifle.
  11. TIP: Use the Rocket Launcher on the Jackals if they bunch up.
  12. Go down the ramp at the far end of the courtyard.
  13. Head into the large room at the far end.
  14. Drop down to the lower level. Look for the door with the green lights on it.
  15. Go through the door. Take a left as you go through. Grab the Active Camo on the floor.
  16. Drop to the lower level and follow the tunnel down.
  17. Continue forward and down the next ramp. Take a left. You will see two Elites standing around. Toss a Plasma Grenade onto one.
  18. Go past the dead Elites.
  19. Use the control panel to activate the map.
  20. Return to the main room and mop up any Grunts you didn't kill on the way in.
  21. Go out the far end. This will put you on a platform overlooking the giant shaft.
  22. Kill the Elite and Grunts on the platform.
  23. TIP: Grab the Over Boost by the crate.
  24. Go back inside the main room. Go up the ramps. This will take you up to the second level.

  39. Exit the facility. Board the dropship.

Assault on the Control Room

YouTube: Halo Assault on the Control Room (Time: 1:34:05)

I Would Have Been Your Daddy

  1. Clear the landing zone. Use one of the gun turrets to make this easy.
  2. Head into the corridor.
  3. Clear the large room at the end of the corridor. There are some Grunts and a Red Elite waiting inside. Use grenades and your Assault Rifle to take care of them.
  4. Go through the door at the other end of the room. The small arrows on the floor will point the way.
  5. Work your way across the bridge. There are several Jackals, Grunts and a Yellow Elite on the bridge. Be careful. There is lots of cover all over the bridge. Make sure you use it.
  6. TIP: There are enemies on both the upper and lower levels of the bridge. Move carefully.
  7. Hurry across the bridge. Get into a gun turret at the far end. Use the turret to clear any stragglers. The turret is also handy for eliminating the Yellow Elite.
  8. Head into the tunnel.
  9. Clear the room at the far end. This room is similar to the last one. You will find a group of Grunts and a cloaked Elite inside. Use grenades on them quickly before they scatter.
  10. Resupply at the dead Marines. You will find an Assault Rifle, Medkit and Frag Grenades.
  11. Continue following the left wall until you reach the tunnel with the pulsing light.
  12. Go down the tunnel.
  13. Go through the rooms.
  14. Use the control panel on your right to activate the lift.
  15. TIP: Stay away from the edge of the lift.
  16. Go through the doors at the bottom of the lift. There are five or six Grunts in the room ahead. They are easy prey for your Assault Rifle. There are Elites beyond them. Move carefully.
  17. Pick your way through this room. Look for the arrows on the floor. They will lead you to the next door.
  18. TIP: You can ignore most of the enemies in this room if you run fast enough.
  19. Go through the hallway. You will emerge out into a snowy area.
  20. Take a left when you hit the snow. Kill the Grunt in the gun turret.
  21. Follow the left wall to find the Marines. You will also find a toppled Warthog.
  22. Resupply at the dead Marine. You will also find a Sniper Rifle and a Rocket Launcher nearby.
  23. Use the Sniper Rifle to eliminate the gun turret on top of the ridge.
  24. Flip the Warthog. Use the turret in the Warthog to eliminate the Ghost flying around.
  25. Grab the Rocket Launcher. Use it to blast the Grav Tank.
  26. Help the Marines clear up any remaining enemies. There shouldn't be more than a couple Grunts left now.
  27. Get in the Warthog. Drive down the canyon.
  28. Bail out of the Warthog and get into the tank.
  29. Use the tank to destroy any nearby Covenant forces.
  30. TIP: Do not fire the main gun at close targets. It will blow you up.
  31. Resupply at the downed dropship.
  32. Drive the tank through the tunnel. It is at the far end of the canyon.
  33. Eliminate any Ghosts and Covenant troops you find in the next clearing. There will be plenty.
  34. Quickly head to the right. Look for a tunnel leading down.
  35. Head down the tunnel.
  36. Destroy all Covenant troops in the large room with the bridge. There will be lots of troops in here, including Hunters. Destroy as many of them as you can from the entrance. Back up when the tank starts taking fire.
  37. Destroy the gun turrets. There are three. The first is to the right of the entrance. The second is on the left side of the bridge. The last is across the bridge on the left.
  38. Get out of the tank when you get to the exit. Use the control panel to open the door.
  39. Go through the gray doors.

Rolling Thunder

  1. Move through the tunnel. There will be a pair of Elites, a Grunt and several jackals. Use the machine gun and cannon to lay waste to them.
  2. Move up the ramp quickly. Getting caught in here is trouble for the ponderous tank.
  3. TIP: Make sure you destroy all four Ghosts. They will haunt you if you don't.
  4. Destroy the enemy reinforcements. They will come out of a dropship at the top of the ramp. You may want to get out of the tank for this.
  5. Head right through the canyon.
  6. Resupply at the dead Marines.
  7. Continue through the canyon. Destroy the Ghost and the Grav Tank ahead. Two Hunters, another Ghost and a Banshee will appear after you destroy the Grav Tank. Take them out with cannon shots.
  8. Go down the ramp. Take out the gun turret and the Ghost along the opposite ridge on your way down.
  9. Assist the Marines in the chasm. There are two Hunters at the bottom. Use the tank or the Rocket Launcher nearby to eliminate them.
  10. TIP: There is an Active Camo powerup near a dead Marine. Grab it.
  11. Go through the end of the chasm. There will be two Jackals and several Grunts on the other side.
  12. Move up the ridge. The top is swarming with Grunts, Elites and a couple Banshees. Move carefully and stay behind cover. Eliminate the enemy at long range before you move up the ridge.
  13. Clear out the gun turrets at the top of the ridge. Use the Sniper Rifle for this.
  14. Get to the gun turret. Use it to destroy the Ghost and Banshee that show up.
  15. Head through the tall door at the east end of the plateau.
  16. Clear out the room. There are several Grunts, two Elites and a Red Elite. Use grenades when they bunch up.
  17. Go through the green door at the far end.
  18. Use the control panel to activate the lift.
  19. Go through the tunnel and into the next room. Kill the Jackals guarding it.
  20. Resupply at the dead Marines.
  21. Toss a couple grenades up the ramp to clear the way.
  22. Head up and clear the next room. There will be several Grunts and a Yellow Elite. The Yellow has a gun instead of a sword but is still very dangerous. Kill him first.
  23. Move to the pulsing light at the far end of the room. Several Grunts and Jackals will come through the door. Hit them with grenades before they can scatter.
  24. Go through the door when the way is clear.
  25. Fight your way across the bridge. Go back to the dead Marines and grab the Pistol if you don't have the sniper rifle.
  26. TIP: The bridge will be filled with enemies. Move from cover to cover and work carefully.
  27. NOTE: There is a second bridge to the right. Enemies will be over there as well. Don't bother trying to kill them. Just stay behind cover to avoid them.
  28. Go through the tunnel at the far end.
  29. Enter and clear the next room. The architecture should look familiar by now. Use the walls and blocks as cover while you clear. There will be a few Grunts and a pair of Elites.
  30. Resupply at the dead Marines. They are just past the pulsing light.
  31. Go through the hallway with the pulsing light.
  32. Clear the hallway. There is an Elite, a pair of Jackals and a whole mess of Grunts. Most of them begin in the smaller causeway to the left. Toss grenades inside to get them before they run.
  33. Run through the next room. There will be a few Grunts and Jackals blocking your way. Use grenades to eliminate them. Ignore the center of the room unless you feel like fighting a pair of Elites and a Red Elite.
  34. Go through the door with the pulsing light.
  35. Head through the tunnel to the next bridge.
  36. Clear the bridge. This one is tricky. The parallel bridge is guarded by Grunts and a pair of Hunters. There are two strategies for this bridge. Option one is to stay back and snipe everything. This takes longer, but is safer. Make sure you kill the Hunters first. Option two is to charge across and ignore everything that isn't in your way. This is exceedingly dangerous, but may save time.
  37. TIP: Watch out for the cloaked Elite at the end of the bridge. Spray him with bullets to bring him down.
  38. Hurry through the tunnel.
  39. Clear the next room. There will be two Jackals just inside the door. There are also a few Grunts scattered about. Use the assault rifle on them.
  40. Head through the room. Go through the hall at the far end of the room. You will encounter another hallway with the small causeway on the left. This one has a pair of cloaked Elites inside. Toss a Frag Grenade to take care of them.
  41. Move through to the next room. There will be a pair of Hunters on the right side. Hit them with whatever you've got to bring him down.
  42. TIP: Sniper rifles work well even at close range.
  43. Resupply at the dead Marines in the center of the room.
  44. Exit through the other side. There will be a few Grunts in the tunnel. Clear them with the Assault Rifle.

If I had a Super Weapon

  1. Kill the Grunts and the Elite guarding the bridge.
  2. Shoot down the Banshees if you can. Don't worry if you can't.
  3. Run across the ice bridge. Avoid the Banshees as best you can.
  4. TIP: If you wait a little, the Banshees may retreat. You may have to return to the previous room for this to happen.
  5. Hurry across the bridge. There will be a Red Elite and four Grunts at the far end. You can ignore them and just head for the door. This is dangerous but can save time.
  6. Clear the next room. Nothing but Grunts and Jackals here. Move on through the tunnel with the pulsing light.
  7. Go to the end. Use the control panel to activate the lift.
  8. Work your way around the right side of the next room. There will be a couple Jackals and some Grunts. Nothing that can't be brushed aside with a few bursts from an Assault Rifle.
  9. Go through the tunnel at the far end.
  10. Take a left when you exit the tunnel. Kill the Elite quickly. Get in the Ghost.
  11. Go to the far end of the pyramid. Look for the ramp up next to a Hunter.
  12. Fight your way up the pyramid. The easiest way to do this is to just run. There will be several Jackals and a horde of Grunts waiting for you. A Banshee will be hounding you all the way up. Unless you've got spare rockets, your best chance is to simply run. There is a checkpoint halfway up.
  13. Use the gun turret at the top to destroy the Banshee and any Grunts who followed you up.
  14. TIP: Go towards the corner. A Hunter will appear. Run back and use the gun turret to kill the Hunter.
  15. Activate the control panel to open the large door.
  16. Stand back. A horde (10+) of Grunts and a Yellow Elite are about to swarm you. Kill the Yellow Elite first.
  17. Run back to the ramp behind you. Move up the ramp. Use it to draw the Grunts in.
  18. Go through the doors once the Grunts are dead.
  19. Use the control panel on the right to open the second door.
  20. Move up and use the control panel to open the third door.
  21. Mission Complete.

The Flood

  1. Look to your left. There should be blood stains and some ammo. Grab it if you need it.
  2. Go through the busted door in the left wall. You'll find a Medkit inside.
  3. Hold off the Flood. Use quick bursts from your rifle. They are weak but numerous. Larger Drones will come in. Hit them with pistol shots or a blast from your rifle. They fall quickly but are very dangerous at close range.
  4. Go back outside to the bridge room. You will see the Covenant being torn to shreds by Flood. Now you need to escape!
  5. Head to the right of the bridge. Look for the door with the blinking light. Go through it. You can also drop down to the lower level now. Wait for the Drones to kill the Grunts. This will save you some trouble.

  15. Drop down to the lower level.
  16. Haul it to the busted door on the left side.
  17. Go through the door. There will be a few Flood inside. Watch out for the Drones further in the tunnel. A shotgun blast each does the trick.
  18. Head into the next room. Look for the fire in the corner. Jump up on the rubble to get to the upper level.
  19. Make your way to the door.
  20. Go through the next room. There is ammo next to the door.

  7. TIP: Grab a Pistol if you see one. It will help clear the large room.
  8. Head to the lift in the center of the room once the path is clear.
  9. Mission Complete.

  8. Continue around the left of the room. There will be some Drones. Let them kill the Covenant troops before you attack them. Look for the door.
  9. Kill the Drones that come through the door. There will be several of them. The good news is that if there are Covenant troops nearby, the Drones will attack them as well.
  10. Go through the tunnel to the bridge. There are Covenant forces engaged here. Wait a few moments and some of them will drop. This makes your crossing easier. Watch out for the Yellow Elite on the way. Introduce him to your Shotgun.
  11. Make your way across the bridge. Keep the Shotgun handy.
  12. Move through the next room. Go around the right side.
  13. Go through the door at the far end. You will come to another straight hallway filled with Elites and Drones. Let the Drones kill the Elites. Finish them with your Shotgun.
  14. TIP: Watch out for the Drone with the Rocket Launcher at the end of the hall.
  15. Head through the next room. Take the right path. This will avoid most of the enemies.
  16. Go through the door at the far end of the room.
  17. Go across the bridge. Use the barriers as cover and watch for jumping Drones.
  18. TIP: Wait for someone to shoot the Banshee down before you go.

  4. Jump down into the coolant.
  5. Get out of the coolant pool. Wait for the Flood to kill the Covenant.
  6. Mop up any Drones still standing.
  7. Follow the small canyon away from the pools.

  10. Follow the path up. Follow the Nav Point when it appears.
  11. Resupply at the dead Marines.
  12. TIP: There are two Hunters just ahead. Wait for the Flood to kill them.
  13. Drop down into the coolant pool. Follow the Nav Point.
  14. Move past the Covenant barricades. Stealth and good timing work wonders here. Do not fire until fired upon.
  15. Work your way to the grav lift (the pillar of purple light.) Fight your way up onto the ridge. Jump once you are in the grav lift.

Upstairs, Downstairs

  1. Go through the open door.
  2. Follow the tunnel to the hangar.
  3. Follow the Nav Point through the ship. Cortana will also be giving you directions.
  4. TIP: Pick up a Shotgun as soon as you see one.
  5. Take a left down the ramp after you leave the hangar.
  6. Follow the tunnel down to the hangar.
  7. Stand and fight where the Flood drop through the ceiling. They will eventually stop appearing. Killing them now prevents them from hitting you in the back later.
  8. Head down to the hangar. There are lots of Drones in here. Use the Shotgun on them to bring them down. Use the rubble piled up as cover. Most of the Drones here are armed with guns.
  9. TIP: Grab the Over Boost and Medkit in the far corner.
  10. Go through the open door. This will lead down from the hangar into another tunnel.
  11. Toss a grenade through the hole in the floor. There are two or three Carriers down below.
  12. Drop down through the hole. Kill anything still standing.
  13. Continue down the tunnel. You will see some Flood attacking Covenant soldiers down the hall. Wait until the shooting stops. Toss a grenade at them once the fighting is done.
  14. Continue down the hall.
  15. NOTE: A huge mob of Flood will show up after you kill the last Covenant troop. Run down the hall towards the Nav Point when they show up. You will be overwhelmed if you stand and fight. They will not chase you once you go through the door at the end of the hall.
  16. Head through the hangar to the far end. Look for the open door. There should be a ramp leading up.
  17. Go into the tunnels. Follow them up.
  18. TIP: Grab the Medkit at the top of the stairs.
  19. Take a right once you hit the third level of the hangar. Go straight towards the open door. It is heavily guarded by Flood forces. Toss a grenade into the doorway to eliminate them quickly.
  20. Continue up through the tunnels.

The Captain

  1. Go through the door.
  2. TIP: There is a Medkit in an alcove to the left.
  3. Continue down the tunnel. There will be more fighting. This will allow you to throw grenades without being shot at. Toss one at any groups of enemies you see.
  4. Let the Covenant and Flood forces slug it out for a few moments before you move in. The more they kill each other, the less work you have to do.
  5. Head into the junction where all the fighting is happening. Captain Keyes and the control room are up the ramp. Covenant reinforcements will come from the open hall. The control room is filled with Flood. Bring them into the hall. Blast them with grenades and the Shotgun. Watch your flank. Grunts like to surprise you here.
  6. Go into the control room when the coast is clear.
  7. Approach the large green object on the platform.
  8. Jump down off the platform. Head to the open door. Run to the side once it opens. Get to the far end of the room. The open door is a Covenant barricade. Running away from it will draw the oncoming Flood to the Covenant, thus clearing the way for you.
  9. Hurry down into the open doorway once the Flood turn towards you. This means they are done with the Covenant troops.
  10. Haul it down to the hangar. The only open route is the correct route. It's the same way you just came up. Let the Covenant and Flood forces kill each other before you move in.
  11. Get to the hangar. Drop down to the control pillar in the middle. Drop down to the Banshees once they land.
  12. NOTE: You may want to eliminate the gun turret before you drop down to the Banshees. This will make your life easier.
  13. Toss a couple grenades down before you. The hangar will be crawling with Covenant forces.
  14. TIP: There may still be a Medkit at the far end of the second level (near the stairs.)
  15. Board a Banshee.
  16. Escape!
  17. Mission Complete.

  13. TIP: There is a Medkit just outside the door.
  14. NOTE: There are two Hunters in the cafeteria. Use the Shotgun to bring them down.
  15. Watch out for the Black Elites in the cafeteria. They throw Plasma Grenades with deadly accuracy. Move carefully. Snipe them with a Pistol if you have one. Rushing them with the Shotgun also works.
  16. Head through the far corner of the cafeteria once the coast is clear.
  17. Kill the Black Elite outside the bridge. Blast him quickly. He likes to throw Plasma Grenades.
  18. Kill the Grunts on the bridge.
  19. Move to the main viewscreen.
  20. Destroy the Sentinels.
  21. Leave the bridge the way you came in.
  22. Go to the end of the hall. Look to your right. You will see an open door with a bunch of Drones inside. Toss a grenade to get rid of them.
  23. Move through the room you just cleared.
  24. TIP: Restock Assault Rifle rounds if you need to. There's a bunch along the right-side wall.
  25. Go through the door at the other end of the room. Beware! There are two Hunters and a Black Elite down the hall to the right. Take them out before you move on.
  26. TIP: Use the barricade just outside the door as cover. Just don't stand right up against it.
  27. Head down the hall to the left when the way is clear. Take a right down the hall.
  28. Let the Sentinels kill the Flood before you attack them.
  29. Duck under the door. Take a right. You will see two Sentinels in the hall. Throw a grenade to take them both out.
  30. Go through the door to Cryo B. The path is marked on the floor. There are Sentinels inside fighting Flood. Wait until you hear the shooting stop before you move in.
  31. Go to the ladder at the far end of Cryo B. Fade the ladder and move forward to climb the ladder.
  32. Go into the control room. Move through the control room to the left. You will find a hallway full of Flood. Stand and fight them. They will stop spawning after a few moments.
  33. Continue down the hall.
  34. Go straight across the hall. There is an Over Boost by a dead Elite. Grab it.
  35. Go down the hall towards the rubble.
  36. Hurry into the maintenance tunnel. Take right turns through it to get into the next hall.
  37. NOTE: There are two Hunters in the hall. Kill them as quickly as you can. You can also just let the Flood kill them. Either way works. There are also a few Sentinels waiting outside the maintenance tunnel. They will kill Covenant, so let them be for now.
  38. Kill the Sentinels when everything else is dead.
  39. Take a right down the hall. Follow the red signs to Engineering. Watch your back. Some Drones may have found their way to you.
  40. TIP: Follow the red signs to the Armory if you need more ammo. You will find Assault Rifles, Shotguns and plenty of Rockets. You will also be ambushed by cloaked Drones. Grab a Rocket Launcher if you don't already have one.
  41. Head towards Engineering.

Light Fuse, Run Away

  1. Head down the hallway. Take a left or a right at the junction. Either one works. They both lead to the same room.
  2. Go up the ramp on the right side of the room. Go to the far end. Look for a door marked Level 2. Go through it. Head up the ramp to reach the second level.
  3. Go through the next door to reach the third level.
  4. Activate a control panel. This will retract one of the four engine manifolds. This allows you to throw grenades or shoot rockets into each pipe (marked with a Nav Point.) Doing so will trigger the engine's destruction. Note that only one manifold may be open at a time. Also note that you must wait for the manifold to open (glow yellow) before you attempt to destroy it.
  5. TIP: Go back to the Armory if you run out of grenades or rockets.
  6. Destroy each of the four engine manifolds. You will need to go back up to the third floor each time to activate another control panel.
  7. Get to the elevator on the third floor. You will have to go through several doors to reach the elevator. There will be a Black Elite and two Grunts waiting on the elevator. Use a rocket to dispatch them in one shot. Use a Plasma Grenade if you don't have any rockets. Use the Shotgun if you don't have any explosives.

Warning: Hitchhikers May Be Escaping Convicts

  1. Take a right into the garage.
  2. Get into a Warthog.
  3. Drive the Warthog through the ship towards the Nav Point. Stop for nothing. Try and drive straight through the center of each area whenever possible.
  4. Stop when directed to do so.
  5. Keep going straight when you see the dropship get shot down.
  6. Ditch the Warthog when you near the ship. You'll have to run the rest of the way.
  7. Haul it to the ship. Just run straight ahead. Zig-zag a bit to throw off pursuing enemies. The last thing you want is to be gunned down mere steps from salvation.
  8. Enjoy the fireworks. Congratulations! You have beaten Halo: Combat Evolved! Now try again on a higher difficulty level.
