The Goliath Frog is the largest and heaviest frog currently living on Earth. The species is only found in a small region of western Africa. The Goliath Frog is popularly collected to be sold as pets which, along with habitat destruction, has significantly lowered the population. It is currently listed as an endangered species.

Because of its uncommon size, the Goliath Frog has been extremely popular amongst the exotic pet trade. Although it is listed as an endangered species, international law does not protect the Goliath Frog from being sold.1
