NHL Career

Prior to playing in the NHL, Wesley played in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winter Hawks. He was drafted third overall in the 1987 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins. He made his NHL debut that same year. In 1994, Wesley was traded to the Hartford Whalers. He continued to play with the franchise as they relocated and became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997. He played with the Hurricanes until 2003, when he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Just a few months later he entered the free agency and returned to the Hurricanes, helping them win the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.
