One of the most popular of all dog breeds in the world is the German Shepherd. In addition to being a popular family pet, their intelligence and sensibilities allows them to be suitable as an assistant in a variety of work situations.

Indeed, German Shepherds are wonderfully obedient dogs. They are also incredibly efficient in terms of being able to trained for a variety of supplemental uses. This is why it is common for German Shepherds to be used in aiding people suffering from blindness in the capacity of a guide dog. Because of their heightened sense of smell, Police departments also use German Shepherds as for search and rescue, cadaver searching, narcotics and explosives detection, and as guard dogs.
