MSNBC projected John McCain as the winner of the state of Georgia in the 2008 presidential election. Georgia is a red state that carries 15 electoral votes. In the days prior to the election, John McCain lead Barack Obama 49.5% to 46.6%. Georgia has not voted Democrat since 1992.¹
