Dominic Santiago is one of the main protagonists in Gears of War 2 and has appeared as a prominent character throughout the entire franchise. He is also portrayed as Marcus’ best friend and accompanies him throughout the game as a fellow member of Delta Squad. In both the original game and the subsequent sequel, he can be controlled by a second player in the cooperative campaign mode. His voice is supplied by actor Carlos Ferro.
He is first shown during the the opening sequence in Gears of War breaking Marcus Fenix out of a maximum security prison right before it becomes overrun with Locusts. Coincidentally, Dominic was also responsible for convincing the military court to spare Marcus’ life after he disobeyed a direct order and abandoned his fellow soldiers to search for his father who went missing during the initial war against the Locust Horde. The second game will flesh out more of Dominic’s back story and expand upon his relationship with his wife, who he lost contact with after Emergence Day.
