About Co-op
Originally, it was reported by various sources such as Shacknews that Epic Games was quite possibly planning to allow up to four players to go through the campaign together, but the story was later denied by Cliff Bleszinski, who stated that it was “never something that was in a state of flux.”34
However, he later revealed the existence of a new co-operative game type known as Horde, which pits five players against 50 waves of enemy Locusts. Surviving through ten waves and each subsequent set of ten will cause the difficulty to ramp up as enemies progressively grow stronger and gain more accuracy. Players who fail can simply restart from their most recently completed wave, but only in private, system link or local games. By default, public games will automatically reset to the first wave.5
