Gayle Williams
Gayle Williams, a charity worker for the Christian organization Serve Afghanistan, was killed by Taliban militants in Kabul, allegedly in retaliation for "spreading Christianity." The chairman of the charity denied allegations of proselytism and stressed that the institution doesn't preach Christianity.1
Williams was shot seven times on her way to work by two men on a motorcycle. She is the fifth foreign aid worker to be attacked this year in Afghanistan. International Rescue Committee, another charity group, ceased its activities after three of its international volunteers were killed in August.2
