Gay Seniors
Gay seniors are starting to make up a larger part of the senior population in the United States as the Baby Boomer generation begins to reach retirement age. According to reports, gay seniors face unique challenges that the general senior population does not face. Because most gays cannot marry they do not have access to social security, pensions or survivor benefits. Furthermore, they are facing discrimination in nursing homes and other care areas.1 2
