Gavin Newsom

Gavin Newsom is the current mayor of San Francisco. Preceded by Willie Lewis Brown, Jr., Newsom has held the office of mayor since 2004. Before becoming mayor, Newsom started a company called PlumpJack Associates L.P. Newsom's first job in politics was under Willie Lewis Brown, Jr., who appointed him to a vacant seat on the Parking and Traffic Commission for the city.

Terry Childs Incident

In July of 2008, San Francisco computer network engineer Terry Childs tampered with the city's computer system so that only he could access certain records.³ Childs refused to provide city officials with the necessary access codes for over a week, but then ceded them to Gavin Newsom after Newsom visited Childs in prison.⁴
