Garden State is a 2004 Fox Searchlight film written and directed by Zach Braff, who also happens to be the star of the movie, as well as its executive soundtrack producer. Garden State was a directorial debut for Braff, who admits that he never expected he could get Natalie Portman to act in his movie.

Plot Summary

Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff) is a quasi successful, yet troubled, actor living in Los Angeles. When he returns to his hometown in New Jersey to attend the funeral of his dead mother, he is forced to confront the open wounds of a painful past.
