Frost Nixon
Frost/Nixon is a film adaptation of Peter Morgan's play of the same name. Reuniting the original lead stage actors, Michael Sheen (David Frost) and Frank Langella (Richard Nixon), the 2008 film chronicles the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former President of the United States Richard Nixon.
Frost/Nixon tied with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with five Golden Globe nominations. Both film received Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Score nominations.1
The film is considered an Oscar favorite in several categories. ABC News notes the film's historical nature, strong acting and the Oscar pedigree of director Ron Howard as reasons for the film's consideration as a legitimate Oscar contender.2

Quotes
- "There is about 10 percent fiction. It's just minor things in the fiction that really can be summed up as the things that Peter (Morgan) was doing to try and build me up as an underdog. To build up the ending so he left out all the things I'd done by the time of the Nixon interviews -- three prime ministers, three ex-presidents, all sorts of stuff."—David Frost5
- "(Frost) was a lot of things -- he was an entertainer, he was a jet-setter, he was socially incredibly ambitious, he was a ladies man. He's an unlikely challenger. If you look at the articles at the time they really underscored that "David and Goliath" aspect."—Ron Howard5

Cast
Frost and Nixon
- In 1977, British talk-show host David Frost paid former-President Richard Nixon approximately $600,000 for the interviews that occurred over the course of twelve days. Two of those days were dedicated exclusively to the Watergate scandal. A total of 29 total hours of footage were produced. Nixon had resigned as President of the United States in 1974 and although The Washington Post's Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein had released their expose "All the President's Men" and the Senate Watergate Committee had issued their report, Nixon had not publicly admitted he made mistakes in the handling of Watergate until the Frost interview.5
Review Quotes
- "Frost/Nixon offers us the pleasure, more common in the theater, of watching two excellent actors simply being, well, excellent. The film is mostly talk, but it's sharp, punchy talk, and the picture is sometimes thrilling to watch."—Kurt Loder, MTV7
- "Frost/Nixon doesn't have much to say about the disgraced president that Oliver Stone, for one, hasn't already explored in more depth, but by the last taping, in its glib and reductionist way, it works like a charm. Or better yet, like television. Which, finally, is a compliment."—CNN8
