Ford Field

Guide Note

Ford Field is an indoor sports arena in Detroit, Michigan which replaced the Pontiac Silverdome as the home stadium of the Detroit Lions in 2002. The home of the Detroit Tigers is across the street from the stadium. A unique feature of the stadium is the presence of skylights and large glass windows allowing abundant amounts of natural light. The construction cost of the stadium was $430 million. Ford Field has hosted numerous major events including Super Bowl XL and the 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. The naming rights to the stadium were purchased by the Ford Motor Company for $40 million, paid over 20 years.
