Guide Note

Flour is made by grinding the grains of cereals and other plants into a fine powder. The flour we use to cook with is typically made from wheat but can also be made from rye, corn, barley, rice, coconut, legumes, nuts, soy and other starchy foods. In baking, the type of flour one uses will affect the outcome of the recipe, as different types of flour have different protein content, which when mixed with other ingredients, will make for different types of bonds.
