The stock photo site Getty Images and the photo-sharing site Flickr announced on July 8, 2008, the formation of a partnership wherein Getty Images editors will surf Flickr looking for marketable and sellable images. Select Flickr users will then be invited by Getty Images to have their photos licensed and sold at the same rates that professional photographers in the employ of Getty are paid.1

The Deal
Jonathan Klein, the CEO of Getty Images claims that while the deal will not financially benefit his company or Yahoo, the parent company of Flickr, thousands of Flickr users may begin receiving payment for their photography.1
