Plot Summary
Pulitzer Prize winning author William Forrester (Sean Connery) wrote only one book before becoming a recluse and spends his days holed up in a small apartment in the Bronx overlooking a basketball court. Jamal Wallace (Rob Brown), a black teen from the projects, has earned a scholarship to a prestigious prep school for his basketball playing abilities and harbors an exceptional talent for creative writing. After a chance encounter brings the two together, they strike up a deal whereby Jamal will keep Forrester's true identity secret while Forrester helps Jamal with his writing. Forrester becomes Jamal's mentor and must ultimately come out of hiding when Jamal is accused of plagiarism.
