Final Fantasy 8 Lion Heart

Guide Note: The Lion Heart is one of the strongest weapons in Final Fantasy VIII. It can be used by only Squall Leonheart, the protagonist in the game. Throughout the game, Squall equips himself with different gun blades. The strongest gun blade out of the seven available to Squall is the Lion Heart. A neon-blue colored weapon, the Lion Heart provides the highest attack level (30).

Requirements: To obtain the Lion Heart, you will need three separate ingredients: 1 Adamantine, 4 Dragon Fangs, and 12 Pulse Ammo. It's worth noting that you do not need to obtain the associated weapons magazine in order to get the Lion Heart; you simply need the ingredients. Below is a breakdown of different ways you can acquire each of the items. The Lion Heart can be obtained during Disc 1, but you can wait until later in the game to get it. It is preferred you obtain it during Disc 1 because it makes Disc 2 more enjoyable, as several enemies that, when defeated, provide higher magic power-ups. By performing a limit break with the Lion Heart, nearly all of Squall's hits accumulate 9,999 damage. Disc 1 Lion Heart

  1. 12 Pulse Ammo: Obtain 20 Elnoyle cards (from Cid, who has unlimited Elnoyle cards). Refine them into 2 Energy Crystals. Transfer these into 20 Pulse Ammo using the Ammo Refine function.
  2. 4 Dragon Fangs: Can be obtained at the SeeD training arena, when you fight with Quistis. There you will encounter a T-Rex often, which drops Dragon Fangs.
  3. 1 Adamantine: At the Tomb of the Unknown King, defeat the two Brothers boss. You will receive the Minotaur card, which you can mod into Adamantines.
  4. Go to the Nautilus shop in Dollet to upgrade your existing weapon to the Lion Heart.
