On October 4, 2006 it was reported that television icon Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer.

After undergoing months of chemotherapy treatment, she announced on her 60th birthday that she was cancer free.

Unfortunately on May 16th, 2007, it was reported that a malignant polyp was found and her cancer had returned. In an effort to combat the spread of the cancer, she decided to undergo experimental treatment only available in Germany.

Further controversy was created by how the press was obtaining information on the progress of Fawcett's cancer battle, specifically The National Enquirer.

UCLA hospital began an investigation for possible privacy leaks and inappropriate behavior by some of the staff. An employee was rumored to have been fired by the Hospital for a possible connection to the leaks.

June 11, 2008: Farrah Fawcett has reportedly entered into a deal with celebrity news show Entertainment Tonight in which the show is allowed to follow her through her cancer treatments in order to make a documentary. She reportedly stands to make over $2 million in the deal.¹
