Her next career move took her to Citigroup, where she served as Vice President. In 2003, she moved onto the show Bloomberg on the Markets and In Focus, which aired on Bloomberg Television.
Controversy
Burnett faced criticism after appearing on Hardball with Chris Matthews on August 10, 2007. She made remarks about products manufactured in China, and how prices are low in the United States because of the quality of goods and prices of products that are exported from there. On August 16, 2007, her comments were scrutinized by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. Because of the backlash, she revised her original statement and stated that if China were to increase the quality of their products it could possibly raise prices at Wal-Mart. She went on to say that she did not want any child being hurt because of a poorly manufactured toy.
