Erie Collar-Bomb Case
Kenneth Barnes pleaded guilty on September 1, 2008 for the 2003 bank robbery and the death of a pizza deliveryman. Barnes could be sentenced to life in prison for conspiring to rob a bank and to aiding and abetting.
On August 28, 2003, Brian Wells, a pizza deliveryman was forced at gunpoint to lock a collar-bomb around his neck and then rob a bank just outside Erie, Pennsylvania. Wells was in police custody but the time bomb exploded before a bomb squad arrived. Wells died from the explosion as he sat with his hands handcuffed behind his back in a parking lot.1
