Emma Watson is an English actress that quickly rose to fame after she played Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France on April 15, 1990. Her parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson are both lawyers. Watson stayed in France until she was five years old, then moved to Oxford, England with her mother and brother after her parents divorced. She started acting in school plays at the age of 10. She had never acted professionally before the Harry Potter series.

In 1999, when Watson was just nine years old, she auditioned to play Hermione Granger for the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone film. After eight auditions, she was chosen for the role.

In 2001 the film debuted and became the highest grossing film of that year. Watson was nominated five awards, winning Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress for her role.

Rumors started that she would not return to film the last two Harry Potter movies, but it has been confirmed by Watson herself that she signed on to do the last films.

In 2007. Watson starred in a made for television movie Ballet Shoes as Paulline Fossil. She also provided the voice for the animated film The Tale of Despereaux which will be released in December 2008.
