Emma Thompson is a British actress who is popular for her work in the period film's Sense and Sensibility and The Remains of the Day. She also won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in Howard's End.

Early Life

Emma Thompson was born in Paddington, London, England on April 15, 1959. She is the daughter of actress Phyllida Law. She would attend the Camden School for Girls in her youth, then move on to attend [[Newnham College, Cambridge.

Pro Career

Thompson career started with appearances on British television shows such as There's Nothing to Worry Abbout!, Tutti Frutti and Thompson. She would make her feature film debut in the Jeff Goldblum star vehicle The Tall Guy. She would follow that up with former husband, Kenneth Branagh's film adaptation of the classic William Shakespeare play Henry V. She would later appear in the film Impromptu and then star in the film Dead Again. In 1992 she would receive her first Academy Award for her work in the film Howard's End . She would later receive an Academy Award for adapted screenplay for her writing on the film Sense and Sensibility.
