Claudette Yamin died in a Richmond hospital. Though the exact cause of her death was unreleased, Elliott Yamin stated she died of "multiple complications after being in the hospital less than a week."¹

Claudette underwent hip replacement surgery the year before.

Despite her weakened health, she was extremely supportive of her son's career. She even moved to Los Angeles (where Idol is broadcast) to see him perform.

Claudette is survived by her son Elliott, younger son Scott, and daughter Jodi Queen.
