Eleuterio Soria

Eleuterio Soria is an Argentinian man who, on May 21, 2008 was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the imprisonment and abuse of his daughter.

His trial revealed that in 1992 Soria began abusing his daughter, who was then 12 years old. When the girl became pregnant the following year, her mother, Soria's wife, left the family. Eventually, the girl's five siblings left as well.

The girl had another child by Soria in 1997.

She made several attempts at escape over the years of her confinement, but was always lured back by threats to her children.

In 2003 she finally escaped and alerted the authorities. Psychologists have pointed out that feelings of shame often prevent incest victims from coming forward.

Unlike the case of Josef and Elisabeth Fritzl, Soria did not physically restrain his daughter. Instead, he used psychological intimidation and threats to her children to keep her with him.
